A rare bath and a new sister! Pictured in its daily use configuration… not pretty with the mismatched seats, busted up trunk, and no side bags, but comfortable and practical. I don’t look at it while riding 😄
This is part of the armor certification process. I.e. for pants they have to prevent movement of the armor, and prevent rolling up the leg or down the hips. The Saint armor I mentioned before is CE approved, meaning it was independently tested and passed all aspects
With the huge caveat that...
That’s not the D30 ghost armor knee pads right? The ghost armor uses non-Newtonian material that will only work when enclosed in fabric designed to work with the armor. It has to hold the shape of the armor while the impact is occurring for the fluid to rigidize and absorb the energy.
I’ve been wearing Saint denim. They have a proprietary “unbreakable” denim and have CE2 rated armor for the hips and knees. Very comfortable, look good, and wear well.
I commute to work in them and wear them all day without issue.
They regularly run sales or offer free armor on their own...
The wife is selling her MT-07. She's decided it's too big for her and wants to go down to an MT-03. If anyone is looking for a good 'round town or hooligan bike this thing is surprisingly powerful for its size. Also a good learning bike (especially with the cage). Details in the Craigslist...
Family commitments have kept me from any long joy rides to test out the RDL, but today I needed to take a ~160 mile trip for work. What is better than riding an FJR on beautiful day through SC's back roads? Getting paid to do so.
The RDL does indeed live up to its name. After several hours I...
Keep in mind you're not really the target audience for the Hybrid Ninja. There are many towns in Europe and Asia that are prohibiting gasoline powered vehicles inside the town, and they are much stricter on noise limits too. Motorcycles especially are having hard time meeting the emissions...
I got my shorty from another forum member because my used FJR came with the touring screen. Seems like everyone immediately buys a bigger one so you can typically find someone that has the stock screen sitting on a shelf and willing to part with it.
There are stick on sound deadening materials, like Stinger, that I've used on the inside of car doors and panels to quiet the road noise and squeaks. You could probably stick some of that on the inside of the fender with good effect...
I’m pretty much your exact size and run the stock short screen. I had a Yamaha touring screen that I hated due to buffeting, and a barn door Calsci that I use in the winter.
The shorty is my favorite, minimal buffeting and controllable air flow. Calsci provides good wind and water protection...
If you can find one I would still recommend getting the upgraded rack, even for the smaller case. It stiffens and strengthens the subframe to support the extra load hanging off the rear. Nobody wants a broken subframe
Confirmed: Brain-dead behavior detected. Thank you Whooshka for the mental kick just by using the words Blocking Plate
I was moving the blocker plate to the lower position, then trying to shove the tongue into the blocker plate... So I WAS riding in in the low position.
I moved the blocker...
"Blocking plate" 🤦♂️
Yep, I'm being dumb. The pictured config is the "low" setting on the front, and the seat tongue needs to go where the plate is currently to reach the high setting. Had it backwards in my brain for some reason and was correlating moving the plate lower to low setting...
Maybe I’m just reading it wrong. Pictured is the only configuration I can get the seat to install in. With the front on the low setting the edge of the seat is contacting the side fairings before the seat nub can reach the bracing point. With the rear in the rearwards position (high?) the...
