    Fuel Gauge

M, While you're working on the vent tube, re-set your trip meter whenever you fill up. Then assume 200 miles (5 gals x 40 mpg) until you need to find some gas +/- 50 miles. YMMV

The best year for the FJR1300

2003 !!! First year in the US and the prettiest and the lightest and the fastest!!! My son still rides my '03 (78k) after I added my 2013 (58k).

    New Member - 2013 FJR1300

OP, Nice 2013 !!! I have one just like it w/ 58k miles and it (mostly) still looks like new! I did add a 'kickstand foot' so it will never roll off the kickstand in gravel or pointing downhill. BTDT...

Mixing Michelin Road 6 GT and 4 GT?

now the front is almost perfectly 'matched' in lifetime with the rear so I change both front/read in the same time. Cosmin, Maybe you keep the front in the air so much the wear equals out... Wheelies can be fun (?)

Looking to replace my RT. Have a few questions.

Marko, Mama Yama sells a color matched top box ... most of us prefer Givi due to larger inside and firmer mounting bracket. There is a Touring windshield from Mama available. Fix the bars first, then the seat, then address the windshield. Risers help, also a Heli block raises the bars...

Mixing Michelin Road 6 GT and 4 GT?

I love Michelins ... PR2, PR3, PR4 and Road 6 (never tried R5). I found they like to be aired up about 40 psi as they seem to ride soft (even the GT). I find them great initially, good in the middle miles, and still round @ the wear bars (6-9k mile avg). Wet or dry they are better than I am!!!

    Considering returning to FJR

Enn, A 60 year old friend of mine recently bought a used 2014 FJR. After just the 50 mile ride home from the Dealer he said " That CC is a game changer!" Maybe try any 2013 + FJR for a day or so and see if it doesn't fix your issues.

    Gel in seats

GOF, Congrats on your new seat! I also use a custom seat, but on long trips I add an Alaska Sheepskin over the top, or beads, or nothing on top and now you have 3 different seats in 1. Variety is nice, and the 2 covers don't take up much space in the saddle bags. Also, beads keep you dryer...

Old battery tender, weak charging system, or inferior battery?

FJRs like a nice strong battery. Get a new battery (your choice of brand and material) and you will be golden!

Wiring for Trickle Charger and Auxiliary Power

KISS whenever possible. See post #8. 12" lead comes our a fairing vent hole (when I need it). Invisible tucked in the fairing ...99% of the time.

    I’m new here.

Also, I thought Mama Yama raised the CC limit from about 80 to about 100mph starting in 2014. I now have UN -limited CC in case I was 'cruising out west' quickly.

    I’m new here.

Trials, I own the 2013 WITH Ivans ECU flash. 3 drive modes, smooth shifts and UNLIMITED CC. Get a 2013 cheap (I never loved the color) and ride it like you stole it ('cause you did).

2009 Gen2 died while riding to work - frustrating and I need some advise please

I'd re-trace your steps. It often is the last thing you touched ... and/or the battery has to be fully charged (or replaced) and many folks are good to go!

    New FJR Owner

Brian, Just get a trunk. I never ride with my bags around town (and we can't lane split). It'll be just like a heavy FZ1 that rarely need gas!

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

2 COG friends from NB, Canada and Ohio and me gazing at the Pacific Ocean. After browsing California Redwoods we did some canyon carving back to Oregon during the COG National Rally this June.
