Do you prefer riding jeans, or textile?

Cycle Gear, see post 18. Order the same thing in different sizes, helmets in different colors/sizes, try all in store and keep what you want. I call the store to let them know I wont be coming in until the whole order arrives, so they know to make room. Exercises your credit card. They have...

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

While I see the OEM frame sliders on the bike, I would not rely on them too much to protect the bags on a tip over. -Steve

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

Those comments are not mine. If the mirrors clear, so will the bags. Its a 650lb bike, I’m not sure I would notice if the bags were off. But the point is a good one, you’re moving to a machine that is probably close to twice the weight, and packs over 120hp at the rr wheel. Big step up. -Steve

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

Two other things I forgot. If you dont get one download (free) Owners manual. You will get a maintenance schedule and info about the switch gear/functionality that is useful. You will see many posts here about fault codes and reading/clearing them on the bike. Cant do it that way on a Gen 4. You...

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

Post the milage and any service info you have. Someone will comment on service items to look out for. Start with all the obvious stuff like fluids, & state of brake pads and tires. Does everything work? (Heated grips, cruise control, ABS, head/tail lights, turn signals, etc) -Steve

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

There are many many maintenance threads on this forum that will be a better reference than anything I could add. Search is your friend. Tire pressures, suggest 40psi frt and 42 rr as a place to start. Coming from something much smaller note that FJR’s can be piggish a very low speeds. Be very...

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

Congrats. Everything I said still applies, except the topcase is not OEM, so third key set is less important. I see some farkles too. Lots of help here to buy more :) -Steve

    FJR 1300 - Gen 4 ( 2019 )

FJR specific- Ask for third key and lock set for top case, unless bike is already equipped with top case. Red key, if immobilizer equipped. (Dont know about Singapore) same for case liners (in some countries you get the liners with the bike, in others you have to purchase them) Get a dealer to...

Do I have an Electrical problem?

There is a Revzilla article that states "A good battery should not drop below 9.6 volts over 10 seconds or so. (when starting)" Batterystuff.com (same site you quoted) says elsewhere "A good battery will hold a voltage above 9.6 volts while cranking" Question answered, I dont have a problem. -Steve

Do I have an Electrical problem?

Stress less is the reason I asked. Cranking voltage of 10v has been quoted here quite often, thats the threshold I had in mind. Thank you both for quick reply and suggestions. -Steve

Do I have an Electrical problem?

2016 ES, 105,500kms (65,500miles) New battery installed the end of March 2024. April riding log 1032 kms driven. 35 trips of varying length. 8 instances of ‘low’ cranking voltage, 9.22V to 9.64V. Only one in eight is the first trip of the day. Not sure that’s a useful clue. Start time Engine...

    FJR 1300 Rear Trunk

The bigger top case has a chrome lid strip above the lock/latch, and a different shape. Your photo is definitely the smaller unit. -Steve

    FJR 1300 Rear Trunk

This is the smaller 39lt top case. Looks like lock and key are present, as is the passenger backrest (separate purchase/part). Will fit stock rack. No rack upgrade needed. Check the “foot”. (Below the lock/latch area, where the case bottom fits into the rack) and around the hinges for cracks...

    My Russell Day Long

I think the usual seat height set up is both frt and rr on the same setting. The bottom of the seat should be parallel with the top of the plastic side panel. Thats how Russell installed the seat when I purchased it. However, if its working for you, “ride more, stress less”, as its often stated...
