I suppose the S1000RR is comfortable...for a superbike. But really only when you're "on it" and moving around the bike. It's fun for blasts of under 100 miles or so, but after that, at my age, it's starting to feel like work.
Hence my interest in adding an FJR.
Since we're talking about BMWs...I ride a 2015 S1000RR. I bought it used in 2016 with 2500 miles on it for $13k. Since then I've added 10,000 miles. Certainly not a lot by FJR standards. But, it's ridiculously powerful, handles great and so far, has been completely reliable. I really like...
I similarly overfilled my BMW last Spring. I thought about the tubing through the oil fill, but couldn't get it past the clutch. I ended up loosening the drain plug, holding on to it and letting a few ounces drain out. I re-used the crush washer. (y)
Chains these days are pretty good. I have 12,000 fairly aggressive miles on my S1000RR's and it's only needed adjustment twice. I understand that replacement's a pain compared to a shaft, but no splines to lube.
I hear you about the center stand though. Big omission.
I suspect the FJR 's "replacement" will be something like the Ninja 1000 SX or GSX-S1000GT+ ( if I have that alphabet soup right).
Perhaps that's how they're trying to position the Tracer?
