    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Missed a few posts. The pastrami seems to need a lot of smoke flavor. Wood smoke is probably stronger than pellets, though the Lumberjacks have proven to be among the best. I think that’s because the corned beef is already chemically cooked through corning (they may use some heat for...

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

That’s where my wife’s house is, that she lets me live in.

    Fuel Gauge

Good to see some of my past documentation is still helpful. The check valve castration was prompted by the habit of first gens (which I had then) had a habit of boiling over from the heat below the tank. I’ve never felt a need to castrate my cap for my 3rd Gen. The removable key thing was...

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

Like most men here, it’s the building I paid for, and my wife lets me live in.

I’m guessing that the dutch in you doesn’t condone buying much beef at current prices either. I go to the local discount market and shake my head. $10, $12, $14 a lb for beef. At least pork is relatively cheap still. When they brought out the corned beef briskets for $3 / lb for the holiday...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Thanks. Cooked at 225 for about an hour then 250 for 3 more before wrapping in butcher paper and 2 more hours at 250. Could have used longer before wrapping, but was rushed to get it done for dinner (wimmens). My last few batches of ribs on the Pit Boss have been the way you’re doing these...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Might have better luck with searching on “Traeger” (spelling) You can’t go wrong with one of those, Dale. They are made in China now, as are most of the budget friendlier pellet grills, but they work pretty well.

    2013 FJR Missing Cover

I think the main functions of that part are to somewhat restrain the wire harness (the one that gets in the way when removing the air filter) and also provides a mounting point for one of the plastic pop-rivets that support the side cover, part #1 here...

    Smokers (BBQ - not grilling)

Unseasonably warm here today in Vermont. Picked up a couple of Corned Beef Brisket flats on sale at the supermarket yesterday, one for traditional boiled dinner on St. Paddy’s Day, and a second one for turning into Pastrami. Yum! After rinsing the meat thoroughly, I trimmed about a pound of...

    LED headlight for 2013?

May be right about it being heat related. 50 + 55 watts of incandescent bulb heat would be hard to dissipate. Which reminds me that I did not mention that my old led “bulbs” have the little cooling fans too. They fit easily behind the FJR headlamp assembly, and have yet to be a problem...

    LED headlight for 2013?

I’ve still got the same set of LEDs that I once had in my ‘05 FJR now in my ‘14. The LED elements on mine look quite similar to the ones linked to in the OP. The most important part of the “bulb” for proper low beam cutoff are the little cup shaped shades on the outermost (low beam) LEDs...

    Going to See the Eclipse?

Hmmm. Have an FJR friend up in Enosburg Falls, VT. Might have to see if he’s having an eclipse party.

Do you need private medicare insurance if you are on Medicare?

Can of worms just opened. As said: you definitely want something more than just regular Medicare part A and B (the defaults). Your primary options are to add supplement plans, aka Medigap (at added cost to you) or to get a Medicare Advantage Plan. Much of the decision on which way to go is...
