    Hi all, new from Oregon

Welcome from Western Massachusetts. Sorry for the trouble. It'll be fine once you straighten it out. FJR's rule. Pete-o

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

I know you weren't targeting me. (Or my spouse) It's rainy and I am a Rabble-Rouser! :giggle:

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

My wife (Who is not a couple hundred pounds) like you insinuated. Is good for about an hour-long ride, these days. I thought she could stretch out, read a book, take a nap, and we could travel further and see more. NOT HAPPENING! She doesn't like it, :cautious: to close to the ground, guardrails...

    Cracks in the Aft SubFrame

OLDJEEP! did you just call someone's wife FAT?!! (Or boyfriend... I'm not judging their preference) 🤷‍♂️ I can see the beauty of a trailer, but never took the leap. I purchased a sidecar rig and was going to convert it for camping. I'm not sure it's good for "Long Hauls". It's a handful at...

The best year for the FJR1300

The entire final drive as a unit, or just the internal gears? I thought there was a gentleman that would perform the rebuild. But unfortunately, he passed away. RIP

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

As RossKean pointed out two opposing teeth would do, and much easier to make. Bring your top nut to a good auto parts store, maybe you'll get lucky... Where do you call home? Pete-o

Considering a garage queen, pros and cons.

I wouldn't have a moment of hesitation. I purchased a 06 with 14K, hadn't run in 12 YEARS! Runs like a top. Haven't done anything to the motor, injectors, or fuel system; besides fuel additive. I concur with your laundry list of upgrades; it'll still be worth good money when you sell it. I...

The best year for the FJR1300

ERS I like the way you think! (y) I also added the heated grips. I use a throttle lock... it's just OK 🤷‍♂️ Rode to the Bay of Gaspé a few years ago. (On a BMW with CC) Nice open roads up there in your neck of the continent. We had a blast! (Pre-Covid) Next trip I'll reach out. Pete-o

The best year for the FJR1300

You guys are all full of "Donkey Doo"! This is a trick question to pit us against each other! 🥵 Can't you see that? 👓 We all know (In our hearts) the 06 is the Best, Simplest, Fastest, and just THE most beautiful color FJR EVER!! Just be men and admit it!!! Pete-o P.S. None of you guys...

    A Bad Blue-ridge Parkway Ride.

Thank goodness for modern medicine. I was also in a terrible crash and recovered to live a normal life. The nurse's advice: keep a "POSITIVE ATTITUDE" that alone, makes a huge difference. (More difficult than it sounds) Wishing you a speedy recovery. Pete-o

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

Thank you for the compliments. 😊 I find the forks as a whole to be weak; when compared to other bikes I've owned. I've never ridden the new style forks (inverted) but can clearly see the mechanical advantage. AND that "Rubber Band" lock nut set up, is weird! When I purchased my bike, the (steal)...

Steering head socket vs spanner for setting torque

I made my own castle nut driver out of a 36 mm deep impact socket. I used a Dremel spinning a cutoff wheel. I couldn't find the appropriate spanner tool; and it was wintertime... I don't like the rubber band lock nut setup they use. I think next winter I'll convert to Roller Bearings. I have the...

I've had good luck with Ebay parts. You just need to be very selective. 🕵️‍♂️ Pete-o

How to resurrect Yamaha FJR1300 that's been parked in my garage for 7 years?

I can't elaborate on all the great advice given above. I just wanted to say: Welcome Back! FJR's are resilient. Pete-o
