I had my ECU replaced during the recall, a few months back. My gas mileage decreased (really poor in town), just like everyone else. No big deal. But - I have noticed a 'rotten egg' smell, typical of a catalytic converter problem. It's not constant, and does this primarily upon acceleration. Have others noticed this? Is it common with the richer, replacement ECU, or just an isolated problem of my own?

Maybe the new ECU is bad or in the process, the O2 sensor was not hooked up or has since gone bad. It sounds as you are running too rich now, hence the poorer gas mileage and rotten egg smell (as the 'cat' can't handle the rich mixture). You might want to pull a plug and see if they are sooty. Might be time to return to the dealer for further diagnosis.

I had the ECU replaced last Fall and there is no difference in the bike except the altitude problem is resolved.
