If you enjoyed yourself last year, well... we're back!!

And if you missed it last time around, now's your chance to jump on the band wagon.

You've all seen the hype and hysteria from last year. That should make it real easy to figure out what you'll be up for.

It's

FJR-NERDS 2012

 Revenge of the NERDS!!!

As the thread topic says, at this early stage, we are just gauging interest in a full repeat of last year's FJR NERDS Rally in Stowe, Vermont this coming August.

It will be held at the exact same location as last time, The Commodores Inn, and be run pretty much the exact same way as last year. The pricing will be very similarly frugal, and include a full New England breakfast each morning with your room fee. Of course, sharing your room with a few buddies can make it extra frugal. And you will still have the option to camp (or stay) elsewhere and participate in all other aspects of the event.

We are looking at having it the third weekend in August (again), running from Wednesday August 15th thru Sunday the 19th, and you can come for as many (or few) days as you can manage.

This year we are planning on adding a little New England style scavenger hunt / mini-rally for Thursday. All details to be announced (after we figure them out). But, if rallying isn't your thing there will always be a dozen or so delectable ride routes to be taken on. The group Bar-B-Que dinner will again be on Friday night, to help accommodate anyone needing to head for home early on Saturday. And of course the hotel's regular buffet dinners are available every night for a darned reasonable cost.

This poll is just to get an rough idea of how many rooms we will need to block out.

Last year we blocked out over half of the hotel (45 rooms) and eventually we ended up selling out the room block. We want to make sure that we have enough rooms blocked so everyone who wants to can join us. The full details on making your reservations will be forthcoming by the end of the year. There will still be just a $50 deposit required to reserve a room, fully refundable up until 24 Hours prior (can't beat that).

So what do you say? Wanna come and play in Vermont with all the other FJR NERDS? :nerd:  :derisive: :coolsmiley03:  :clown2: :bike: :fuck: :goatee: :haha: :jester: :lmaosmiley: :nerdsmiley: :eek:mg:

PS - For those not familiar with this event last year, start your browsing here

edit - deleted poll.

I kinda got excited when I read the earlier posts where there was consideration about moving this up into July, but alas, it’s not meant to be. Down here the wife has to report back to work (school) the first week in August, so the schedule we keep us from joining. I understand the reasoning, but in the future if you decide to move it up, we’ll sure like to join the party. If nothing else we hope to see you guys at the next EOM.

Reporting to school in August is some kind of communist control tactic devised to halve your useable summer (in half, even).

Revolt I say! Attend NERDS and tell them commies where to put it.

Or not....

PS - We was at EOM this year and missed you (I think). I'm really shitty with names and such. I have a bad case of CRS

PPS - Don't worry... You're only the first dork that says you can't make it.

Thanks for the update, Fred! And for taking on the initial planning.

We're in if the dates get finalized before my vacation bid sheet comes out for 2012, which will be within the next two weeks. Please keep us posted!

I'll give you a "I'm most definitely possibly considering thinking about attending NERDS!" How could I possibly say no to some great riding and good friends?

But it depends on how my plans play out. I'm looking at 3 weeks off to do NAFO/Alaska. If I get it, I most likely will be out for NERDS. If I don't, I'll be there doing a 2 week tour of the best of the Appalachian/Smokies - including NERDS!

(What the crowd doesn't know is that if I don't get the time off, I'll probably tell them FU and go anyway... and I probably won't be coming back from BC!)

I'll play. I have not been to an FJR rally yet where I didn't have so much fun that I want to do it again the next year. And NERDS is one of the best. :D

I didn't like any of it, crappy venue, poor food, NERDS not friendly at all, too many cigars, too much beer, poor parking, had to get MEM hawt-wired, shitty routes, meany for a roomie, had to escort Bustanut home, and just plain weird disorganizers. This year, I think I can straighten all that out, so count me in unless something else goes awry!!

Escort me home?? Bah! You abandoned me in the Canadian wilderness and I just about got ate by a fukin' polar bear..

Regardless of how badly Ray treated me, Sheila and I are all in!

NERDS was defiantly a GREAT time with WONDERFUL peeps and I'm so APPRECIATIVE I could attend this year - and I fully encourage ALL to make this event next summer.

Me, it's more than two weeks away, so I don't know..

..but I'm trying -

I would consider these dates as "finalized". The hotel has no availability earlier, and later than this in August will just make it more of a conflict with school start ups, EOM, etc.

I'd love to go, but too far off (time wise) to commit. I really want to ride the notches in NH. The views are awesome. :clapping:

If any of you are a in the "maybe" category, just vote "yes" so that we block out enough rooms for everyone.

And when we do announce the details for making the reservations (in the next month or so), please put your $50 down to reserve a room, even if you aren't completely sure you'll make it. The deposit is 100% refundable, with no strings attached, right up until 24 hours prior to your arrival.

Ideally, we'd like to block out the entire hotel. Then we'd have free run of the place and not have to worry about Daffy Daphne making another automotive assault on the bike parking zone!! But even if we don't get the whole thing, we do want to make sure that we have enough room for everyone that wants to come.

Knew we could count on you Greg!!

Awesome, Ray!! And thanks for volunteering to be on the NERDS organizing committee.

You'll love it. The work is long and plentiful and the pay... isn't.

Excellent. You heard it right there. NERDS is BJ approved!!

And all the NERDS will get to meet Mizz B live and in person. :yahoo:

Myself and the bride will be attending. Any chance we can get the special rate for a few extra days either before or after ?

We only did 3 of the 11 rides last year, of course I will need a leader with a gps and the knowledge to use it. :clapping: Think you will be back from europe Bill ? Thanks again for leading the Grand Isles and Adirondaks ride last year. :)

Fred W if you feel the need to preride the rides let me know and I will follow you around. :yahoo:
