I took a little spring break down on Whidbey. I rode the bike and my wife took the cage and dog. It's a balance between what I want and what she wants. The friday morning was pretty grey and wet down I5 but by the time we his Deception Pass it was starting to break up. I went down the Island, stopped in Coupville for lunch at Toby's, nice wierd little seafood bar. On toward Useless bay where we are staying. I was going to head over the ferry to Port Townsend but the weather was bad this morning, cleared up this afternoon and rode just about every through back road on south Whidbey, Langley, Clinton, Possesion shores or point, Maxwelton, Useless bay. It was a good ride, the sun came out and the wind died off. There was a lot of tree shit on the road in places. That cam be nasty slippery stuff, I know this from experiance but I kept the shiny part up and it was a great afternoon in the sun with the roads to myself. Here are a few pics.

Murray, great ride report and pictures, nice to get out for a late winter ride! The dog looked like he was enjoying himself. I also like the jet and motif pictures. Thanks for posting! Bacon on a maple bar!!! How was it?

Whidbey has some pretty nice black top and is a nice place to go for a easy day of back roading. Looks like you had a good day, thanks for sharing.

Bacon on a doughnut,, only in America. No, I couldn't do that my arteries aren't what they use to be. Too much deep fried goodness over the years and I really do need to take care if I want to keep riding.

Thanks Murray.

I'll have to explore that area one day. Looks like no ferries required?

Was going to go for a short ride yesterday but we spent most of the day enjoying a 'mini-blizzard'. By evening it was warm and dry again - very Calgary-ish

Looks like great roads!

Is there a lot of call for armour in the local area? Castles? Graveyards? Probably not a good idea to ride after dark! :assassin:

No Ferry required. From the North take Hwy 20 West to the Deception Pass Bridge. You can take a ferry from Clinton back over to Mukilteo or from Coupeville (Ft. Casey) over to Pt. Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula with miles of great roads west of Port Angeles. Especially 112 out to Neah Bay and then on to Cape Flattery.
