Panama Canal Crosser
Pennsyltucky-Run Memorial Day Weekend

Who: Anyone with Interest in an area filled with great MC roads, not too heavy of a touristy area either (but yepper, the scenery ain't too shabby!)
What: Ride/Meet. No pre-planned anything, no rally costs, you come and go/do as you please. Nightly parking lot social hour after daily excursions/rides are planned (if you call it that!)
Where: Penn Wells Lodge (Base Motel - Newly constructed wing/Renovated older wings)
Lodge | Penn Wells Hotel - I opted for corporate rate, it is a holiday weekend; so I could not swing a group rate. The hotel is very nice however and has a large parking lot for our tire kicking social hrs.
When: Sat 5/24, Sun 5/25, drive home day- Mon/Mem Day 5/26. Of course you can ad-lib your dates.

This is a mixed meet/ ride event with all bikes welcomed. Grouped rides should meet (parking lot socials?) and discuss routes and riding styles and group as such. These roads (when dipping south of Wellsboro) are more of the twisty and sweeper oriented style roads. The roads are generally in really good shape (see scouting report).
I have a loop planned for Sunday 5/25 here. I'm coming with Debbie (2up yuk!) and some others from this Forum are as well ('Wine Guy' Mike is bringing Donna, 'cnfjr' Mike is bringing Laura). You are welcome stag or coupled up, this however for me, will be a less testosterone trip w my Ms.Debbie
So this is a great low-key way to come visit some really great Penn roads accompanied by more scenic schtuff than one would think Pennsylucky hills has to offer. Homebase; Wellsboro has amenities along with some good restaurants and pubs within walking distance to our hotel as well. Here is one we visited for dinner before our ride back home. Google the town for more.

For my pre-scouting RR...
My friend Robert wanted in on this venture. He rides a Yamaha V, he can't quite do the twisties like us ST guys but he doesn't mind scraping his metal on any turn in an attempt to keep up. It was a sun drenched, slightly hazy, mid to upper 70's excursion. Nice! (for a change). Got my NERDS shirt on ....
First stop was around 11am at the Wellsboro Diner (I'll include actual food porn; my western omelet). It's across the street from our base Hotel. Breakfast is included at the hotel btw but not on Sundays.
You can see diner above Roberts Hi-Viz (bending over) in b/g... Hotel is on left across street.
Quaint lil town, all amenities but Beer/Liquor has to be purchased at outlet stores in Pennsylvania. Not a problem, you just can't walk into a gas station and purchase it.
Some of the off the path roads are kinda po-dunky but FUN!...

Hyner View State Park. Just off Rte 44.
As we venture down and around, Robert stalls out, and pulls over. I see him in my rear view and swoop back. (luckily there is gravel pull overs on every turn since the road is so narrow). Here we get some Penn help....
Robert is quite embarrassed that his Yami went dry, but I got him in the money shot anyway.
We get to civilization, he fills his bike (again!), my 7 gal tank snoozes. Trip computer had me at 46mi/gal. A tad better than my FJR, but I did run 89 octane in the Beemer, so about the same $ wise I would say. That 6th gear/OD is sure a great equalizer when running at high speeds
I took a whole bunch more pics and uploaded them upon snapping, only the high elevation shots (or towns) made the uploads, go figure ...lesson learned; store locally to phone. We did 372 miles with smiles all the way. Even the running out of gas we had fun with. Met great people along the way and can't wait to come back on Memorial Day Weekend.
