I've been participating in a motorcycle rally recently (kind of like a scavenger hunt) and found myself in the Shaver Lake area looking for bonus points. I found some tasty new roads and a great place to stay so I thought the next thing I should do is share it with my friends! :)

This will be a three-day ride - Saturday, August 2, through Monday, August 4. We will be staying here both nights:

If it is full, here are two other options close by:

I would recommend making your reservations ASAP if you plan on coming as they get very busy in the summertime.

I'll have routes soon but it will include a visit to Half Dome in Yosemite as well as Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. If you've never been, you're in for a treat. Might consider getting a US parks pass as well:

More info to come so stay tuned! :)

Just took the wife up there for lunch last week. Might have to join you for the ride through the Sequoia's. See you soon.

Tyler,

In 2010 CAJW sent me some route ideas for a rally a friend and I had responsibility for one of the rides. On our own, my wife and I route this one which is a one-way road but was very enjoyable. Not sure we went to end shown on the map. Forest campsites along the way but no food or gas. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/37.1017741,-119.3177365/37.1060836,-118.9867427/@37.0784925,-119.0089728,10z/data=!4m3!4m2!1m0!1m0

CAJW came up with an nice route from Oakhurst to Shaver Lake which as I recall is https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Oakhurst,+CA/Shaver+Lake,+CA/@37.0752603,-119.4589939,13z/data=!4m19!4m18!1m10!1m1!1s0x809427a27f5dbc67:0xd0683ed7bb7d8d81!2m2!1d-119.6493154!2d37.3279997!3m4!1m2!1d-119.4334677!2d37.0814959!3s0x80944aa4f64c1929:0x24dc90d8f9902263!1m5!1m1!1s0x8095b60dd31c79af:0x10a2e6ed05eb2a7d!2m2!1d-119.3176258!2d37.104114!3e0

Thanks for that info, Roy... I'll check it out as we get closer and I'm putting together routes. B)

Sounds like a great trip!

Although I've attempted Yosemite on a Saturday during the summer... No Bueno Muchacho!!

Hope you have better luck than I did. I think all of Cali was there that day:(

Looking forward to some awesome pictures in your trip report!!

Thanks,

Brian
