Where to buy SAE connectors?

I guess I have too many questions and I apologize

- I just wired a SAE pig tail to the battery and it has 18 gauge wires. Can it run my Slime air compressor that requires 15A? Yes I do have a 15A fuse on the SAE wire. I did search for the current capacity of 18 AWG for DC 12V and some tables said yes up to 20A (ex: https://www.offroaders.com/tech/12-volt-wire-gauge-amps.htm) and some said no. What's your experience?

- I couldn't seem to be able to find SAE wires with wires bigger than 16 gauge anywhere?

- I also couldn't seem to be able to find just the SAE connectors so I can solder my own wires?

[Even each circuit of the Fuzeblock can handle only 10A. Does anybody run the Slime through the Fuzeblock without blowing a fuse?]

Amazon carries SAE pigtails with up to about 14 gauge wires. You have to search and read the descriptions (and comments) to be sure of what you are getting. Also remember that the total wire length ... including the return to ground, counts for carrying capacity.

It is quite hard to just get the connectors, maybe somewhere like digi-key would have them.

RV/Trailer; solar supplies and even good ol' Amazon have SAE connectors in all types and styles. As always, type SAE CONNECTORS AND TERMINALS into Google and get 1.36e6 links.

Thanks. Yes I know there are millions of links popped up but no SAE connector by itself. At least I did not see anybody selling the SAE connector without the cable in the first few pages on google.

It seems that 2-pin SAE connectors were not intended for high current usage. I couldn't find a copy of SAE specifications to read. There is only 1 paragraph on wiki page:

I've been running my 15Amp air pump of the SAE connector with 18 gage wire for several years on multiple bikes without any indication the wiring was being over loaded. Guess if you can find one with 16 gage wire it will be prudent to use it.

Also good boat shops have water proof, protected wire and connectors.

Don't need to apologize, Lonerider. I appreciate your help. It happened to me all the time on Amazon even after I added an item to my cart without checking out and when I turned around it was unavailable

Never found them myself (and I can be damned resourceful finding stuff online)

Pigtails seem to be the only thing available, unless you buy an injection molding machine and DIY!

A good alternative to SAE connectors are Anderson Powerpoles. https://www.powerwerx.com/anderson-powerpoles/powerpole-sets/ These are often used in high current applications (i.e. electric model aircraft) and are available for very high current applications.

Anderson Powerpoles are nearly ubiquitous in the amateur radio community.

If you want an excuse for a ride, place your order with Powerwerx as "will call" - and ride down to their facility in OC to pick it up.

My local BatteriesPlus store has SAE connectors.

Just ordered some Powerpole connectors to play with. From reading on the web, they look truly solid and awesome to build any kind of cables and adapters! They can be stacked, locked together to form single wire, 1 pair, 2 pairs, 3 pairs etc... and I can use almost any gauge wire with them as long as I got the proper inner connector, while the outer connectors are the same for all. They are also polarity locked to prevent reverse polarity.
