Yesterday was a fun day? I ordered one of these:

KTM 1290 Super Adventure

After riding numerous times with Wheatie... I needed something a little better on dirt roads and gravel than the FJR...

Looks like it won't get here until April - ish. Hopefully in time to get some time alone with it and head to the SE Ohio Ramble. Though I haven't sat on one yet (I have sat on an 1190 which was the one I was planning to get and they are similar size/frame), I think there is lots to like: 100lbs less than my 09A and lots of electronic goodies...

Have had the trusty 09 since new... certainly no complaints with it. But what is it about getting something new (or new to me)? Geez... I feel a little giddy actually! Can't wait til April(ish). Hoping to add some off road adventures to the years riding.

Wasn't sure if I would keep the FJR or sell. Decided last night to go ahead and start defarkling and sell. I rode it pretty much stock, but may as well sell the few goodies first.

Hope I will be welcomed at the usual events with the 'odd' bike.

I'll be selling my nearly new Laam seat and VStream shield. Haven't decided on the Garmin 660, Escort 9500iX, etc.... Might be posting up later today if I get time to take pics. So if you need any of that stuff, stay tuned.

Is it April yet?

First up... U got bigger pneuski's than me having purchased one without even sitting on one yet. Big ones! Hope it works out for you and you'll leave me in the dust on those Xover roads.

See u and yur new bike at SEO, we'll christen her correctly :)

Congrats on pulling the trigger. I've considered the big KTM myself on occasion.

Local dealer still had a couple of 1190's on the floor last time I was there.

I'm sure you already know, but if not, be sure to get the air filter kit immediately. The Katooms are known for leaking past the seal and dusting the cylinders.

Having said that, what a fantastic ride, you will love it.

That was an airbox issue on the 1190's. They did come out with a factory retrofit to address the problem. Hopefully they learned their lesson and the 1290's will not have that issue.

Yep... I'm going to be checking that immediately... hoping they fixed it in the 1290.

Welcome to KTM. If you have half as much fun as I do on my 990 Supermoto you won't be disappointed.

PS KTM wants you to use the Motorex $20.00 a quart synthetic whale giz, after I was out of warranty I switched to Rotella T synthetic and bike runs just fine at 21k miles.

You bastard, selling your FJR...just for that I'm not leading you down dirt anymore. :D

Actually, haven't led a ride in years now. It's kinda fun back here whining about the asshole leaders upfront screwing up my ride. :D

Seriously, have fun on that thing...and learn to ride why doncha.

Congratulations! KTM's are quite the magnet. I had a 690 in 2000...great bike.

I call dibs on your Lamm seat if the price is reasonable.

Yup, we'll pick your FJR clean like vultures in the desert!

Congrats, make sure you post up pics and impressions once it arrives.

Can't wait to score a demo ride and check out that monster engine!

Black Dog makes by far the best skid plate, which relocates the kickstand off of the engine block.
Renazco is also the go-to seat maker.

Love my 1190R. Rear knobbies disappear like Halloween candy in a fat farm, but that motor is ten kindsa fun.

Well holy hell...

You will always be welcome at the "usual events" by the ... uh ... un"usual" folks. I'm talking aboot Mike, of course.

Anyhoo.

The new scoot looks fun! Look forward to checking it out! Hopefully we can meet up sometime this year - can't make the Ramble-proper this year but maybe on yer way to or fro we can meet up!
