Just installed the MCL Riser plate on my 2013 FJR. Everything went smoothly. The drill guide that MCL lets you borrow is a must in my opinion. A little WD-40 and literally 5 minutes to drill both tamper proof bolt heads. Did run the throttle cables under the handle bar for slack reasons. Cant wait to put some miles on them to check the effect on back pain.

I don't recall re-routing cables.

My bike with the MCL riser plate is a Gen II. Not sure if there are differences with install for the Gen III? I followed the instructions provided with the riser plate.

I suggest being sure that any cable re-routing doesn't interfere with throttle operation (try throttle with bars in all positions from right to left lock).
