Sena SM10 to Escort 9500ix problem

I just purchased dual Sena 20S for bluetooth communication and SM10 to connect my iPod and Escort Passport 9500ix. I hooked everything up and now the speakers are toast in the RD and tech support said I need a ground loop isolator and a mono plug.

I sent my RD in for repairs but it seems I need a mono plug running between the Sena SM10 and the RD, not the stereo plug that Sena provides, right?

I also need to connect a ground loop isolator from my 12V source to the RD?

Please advise. Thank you.

 
I doubt that the speaker is toast. When you insert the 3.5mm plug into the audio jack, in addition to connecting the audio output to the cable, it also breaks a spring loaded connection to the internal speaker.

On my old Passport 8500 the jack got flaky after a number of years of use on the bike and that spring loaded connection would intermittently not re-close when you pulled the plug out. It also got flaky on the cable side of the connection, which was more distressing as I was missing audio alerts sometimes. I ended up replacing the unit with a newer one and I'll use the old one only in the car after making sure to restore that jack connection.

The RD will require bike power, but the SM10 runs on its internal battery. I have run my GPS audio output (zumo550) and the RD output to the SM10 on batteries with no added isolation, using the supplied SM10 cables. The RD will only supply audio to one side as I recall when I used the gray Aux cable from the SM10. I used the black one for the Zumo.

 
i have had no issue with hooking up the valentine one to the sm10 but the SM10 has been running off battery.

The Escort folks said it may be a blown the speaker in the 9500ix so I sent it in for inspection and repairs. The 9500ix speakers have no volume when used in the car or truck. I have the RD powered from the FJR's 12V battery but maybe the Escort people are saying I should have a ground loop isolator between the RD and 12v battery. I will double check on that.

 
I just talked to the Escort tech person and said they sell what I need which is the "motorcycle adapter". It plugs between the RD and the Sena SM10 and is a ground loop isolator and mono plug in one. Once I get my RD and this adapter back I will determine if all is good. Thank you.
