My Mini EOM Ride/Pic Report.

Any form of a RR must have porn. So let's just start out with it!....Food Porn that is!.

.....Tuesday nite (9/22) Deb and myself kick it off (plus it was my Birthday as well). So we went to a steakhouse in town, I had the Fred-Flintstone Cut, a couple of glasses of Pinot Noir to cleanse' the pallet. Hey, ya gotta start out a trip the right way, right?

20150919_193222_zpssagdtqgt.jpg

Mike (Wine Guy) met Steamer, Deb and myself in my hometown of Geneva for breakfast 9am Weds. Perfect weather was casting upon us. I then led the boys down 414 along wine country, showing Mike some of my turf and views within. Seneca Lake spews some pretty nice views and Watkins Glen was our gas-n-go as Wine Guy was low coming in from Ontario 2.5 hrs prior to meeting us in G-town.

Taking 144 to 44 (great M/C roads with zero traffic!), we stop at Hiener View for the superb lookout. Debbie and Steamer were the newb's to this place, an almost must visit place when coming through central PA.

20150923_130059_zpsflsx5yzr.jpg

Steamer doesn't like that Debbie gets my attention and away from him, so he wants to push her over the edge. No, serious!

20150923_130307_zps7brcfj90.jpg

I planned our lunch for the Hanger-9 pub in Lock Haven (stolen from my Penn-Runs there, as was the Heiner-View). Debbie was the only one eating healthy. Nothing new.

20150923_141611_zpsy35mhbaw.jpg

We stayed in Lavale MD. Weds nite. Met Rick (Pura Vida) there, also Ray (Gray Ray) and his other brother Ray there. It was a fun stopover place, having an Applebee's across the street made for libation central that night. I had the "heart-attach in a basket".... nice egg and hash-brows accompanied it!

Thurs AM

Flip flopping around the MD border, riding 50 West right here.

We breezed down 219 eventually, only to find too much friggen traffic. So I re-routed over to 92, down through Green Bank w the massive telescopes. Fun and gorgeous ride shooting down there; the sun busting through the tree covered roads, nice!.

Checking into the Lewisburg QI, we first hunt out a liqour store. A case of Mich Ultra for Debbie (I know... water!) and a case Yings for me. 2 bottles of Vodka also, mixers were had at a nearby Walmart. Dang, we are high maintenance! (I think Wine Guy has pics of my overloaded bike of this Beverly Hillbillies moment). Here, I feel the need to get my hands dirty on Petey's rear (tire).

Friday

It was raining yes. Steamer gets on his phone and rents a SUV w 3 row seating to carry us wanna be drunks to go do "what-else?"

After 2 trips back and forth from the hotel, Tim (madmudder) is the DD and is so nice to deliver us drunks to a Mexican Cantina. We tried to go for an Irish Pub, but the place was closed? WTF, on a Friday afternoon? Happy Hour? Oh well, if it's not Irish, it's the Mexicans....

Tim (our DD) taking pre and sober pics... this wouldn't last long!, and, with Don Stanley picking up the tab for us 20 or so ding-dongs.... IN! (here, Sooze is warming up our Canadian buddy!)

20150925_132831_zpsfvffvqov.jpg

The only one not sampling the beer list is Mike. Hey, his name should be Wine Guy! ;) Debbies Margarita and my 'not so' light beer in foreground.

20150925_133813_zpsedlmsxtg.jpg

Rick is an IPA guy, he found a double IPA on the list, so he's slappy-happy combining it with a chili appetizer.

20150925_135719_zpsks4tz9lk.jpg

Steamer just bought a selphie-stick. I personally think they are just too friggen stup-pid!...someone never told him he could un-snap his phone from it to make calls.... he's priceless I'm telling ya!

20150925_140535_zpsiys2ku8b.jpg

I had Nachos, good, but I'd say just your norm in the Mexi food porn line-up.

20150925_141000_zpsjjqjbcug.jpg

Reading through the list of places to visit in Lewisburg, I mention to the group about the 'Smooth Ambler Distillery'. No arguments here, everyone piles in and off we go! (well, except Jim, Iris, Marty & Petey's table)

One of the partners in the Distillery come in while we are doing our tastings and asks if we would like a personal tour for our group. I speak up first with an anxious "YES!". Nobody disagreed either. (yes, Andy's drooling!)

Our tour ended in the bottling and packing room. Pretty darn cool to sip the product(s) then see where and how it was made.

20150925_163213_zpslmakdgtw.jpg

The funniest 'Distillery shit' was when Ms. Donna (DonS better half) sampled a couple of the Bourbon's... her face and reaction was priceless!... sure wish I had my phone ready for pics. dang it!

---So upon leaving Distillery---

We see it's still raining, so I mention "let's walk across the street to the Brewery!"... again, no resistance whatsoever. Man, I love these peeps! and, what's better than a distillery-liquor then micro-beer romp? NUT-TIN!

20150925_165210_zpsryolelih.jpg

Andy felt at home. We also played Mega-Jenga, Susie has some pics of that, maybe Geek will pile some on here. I was having too much fun at that time to think about pics... alcohol, it's a terrible thang!

20150925_171533_zpsij8kxq7r.jpg

Saturday

We piled on to Bob's (Intech) chain of bikes. After all, this was pretty much his stomp'n grounds :)

Not nearly as impressive as the Penn-Run's 'Heiner-View' was a few days back. But still pretty nice, and, it's different!, and that's the ticket we were looking for!

20150926_115815_zpsskxbm3u5.jpg

The highlight of this day trip, had to of been the pizza!~? well, the roads were wonderful, the weather straightened around with no rain... but, once we drove into the parking lot of Pies and Pints and smelled the unbelievable FP aroma?, dang, I'm all-in! AND!, IT WAS DELISH!!! Great call Bob!!!!

20150926_135750_zps1cameo8z.jpg

A 10min Kodak bridge stop has Wine Guy trying to dis-robe his rain panties.... with little ole Debbie trying to help. Yeah, Okay.

20150926_160748_zps2owgglgy.jpg

Vic is taking it all in, but after following him with no rear fender and jingle-jangle danglies hanging off his bike making me hypnotized.. I knew I needed to up him in the line of fire after this stop.

20150926_160757_zpsepf8fisa.jpg

I wanted a Superman pose, I got one! lol.

The 2 guys to the left of Vic (on far right) were goona get passed by me to over take Sir Vic after this stop. No offense to them, well.... I was hoping!... and later I found out that they knew exactly what I was doing. Those 2 younger guys were awesome dudes btw. I never got into their moonshine however as I seen what it did to El-toro Joe the night before. Man!, those guys (one on a wee-strom, the other was on a FJR) were kewl-azz guys!!!!! :)

Hey, who took my side bags?

Tyler rode sweep all day. She (as always) is seen with her camera in-hand finding that perfect image. I'm looking forward to her RR and pics as they are always THE bestest! (she's not in the pic...cuz she's off finding that perfect nature shot!)

Saturday nites dinner was good and provided entertainment! Great organization by Wayne and company. You guys were smooth, professional and it flowed just right! I won a door prize! It was a small Metric socket set, quite funny considering I own a True Value Hardware store, but never the less I appreciated it anyways very much so. I re-gifted it to Tim (madmudder), hey, that was my tip then for driving us drunks around on Friday ;-)

------------------------------------- Wrap it up KJ, you said this was a mini-RR! ------------------------------------

Okay Ok....

Me- I had such a great time!. The peeps are second to none. Period. If you ask me if I go for the roads and scenery or the people, I have to put the people and friendships first... and, that's saying a lot cuz the roads are just so freek'n great as well. So I'll make the phrase; "People First, Riding Always"

Debbie- "Ditto that above" as she just read my paragraph. She loved the FJR group, laughed her ass off (like she has any extra to laugh away!) the whole time there. She's has some fav's and has now told me to figure out when the next Ride is going to be. Oh boy, you guys created a monster. Thanks a lot.

EOM workers- Huge THANK YOU! from us Upstate New Yawkers. You guys made everything flow smooth and perfectly. I give kudos where they are deserved, you guys and gals deserve a huge one!

And, as Debbie just brought up? "So when and where is the next one!?" ;-)

-KJ (and Debbie)

Ahh...excellent report KJ.

Ain't that the truth, nation wide too. I have met the best peeps at any FJR event no matter where it is in the country.

KJ,

I think your backwards on this but otherwise excellent RR and especially good photos. Thanks so much for posting.

And you're right, the FJR peeps are some of the best anywhere. Genuine folks!

Awesome RR! Glad to have finally met you, Debbie, Steamer, and that Chuck Norris dude. Can't wait to do it again!

Thanks KJ!! 40? Blew through that 19 years ago

We are thinking real hard about EOM next year but you two are always welcome out west. We'll even let you stay in Tyler's room at our home, yes we named a room after her due to her many visits - love that girl-did ya give her a good pinch?!

Great RR KJ! Here's a few pics to fill in some of the blanks (and there were a few of them during this adventure :) )

I knew there would be lots of great food over the weekend so I tried to start on the lighter side with a Cobb Salad at Hangar 9 at Lock Haven on Wednesday afternoon. Okay, I did have extra dressing.

IMG_5461.jpg

Upon arriving in Lewisburg on Thursday afternoon, we checked in and immediately headed out for supplies from the local liquor store and Wally World. KJ miscalculated a bit on the purchases and couldn't close his top case on the way back.

IMG_5462.jpg

Rainy day on Friday. After looking at the weather we decided not to ride soooooo, time for Bloody Marys....

IMG_5463.jpg

Petey and LittleJon getting in on the early start to a wet day....

IMG_5464.jpg

After our breakfast beverages, we decided site seeing in a rental car was the ticket with MadMudder (Tim) as our DD. We descended on a local Mexican restaurant - Del Sol. They were amazing and accommodated the surprise visit without batting an eye. Here's some of the crew diving into the Mexican cuisine. Great food and great service. Highly recommended.

DSCF6440.jpg

A close up of my Chicken Quesadilla. I started with a soup and could only finish half of this bad boy. Thank goodness because it ended up being a late night dinner. "I was so hungry, I could have eaten at Applebees" (long story, but a good one) :)

DSCF6439.jpg

Off to the Distillery Tour. Our hostess was incredible. She handled our "bad comedy" and even had a few zingers of her own.

DSCF6444.jpg

Yup, we went through a bit of inventory

DSCF6447.jpg

We were a bit loud (no, really?) and Boss man came out to make sure we were staying in line and offered us a tour - probably to give our hostess a break from us :)

DSCF6448.jpg

Debbie enjoying the company of Mr. Pickles

DSCF6445.jpg

Pretty cool operation - could almost do this in my garage on a smaller scale :)

DSCF6451.jpg

Boss Man let me have a taste and the stuff flowing out of this spigot was AMAZING!

DSCF6452.jpg

After getting a bit of the liquor in our belly, it was off to the Brewery for more samples. The large Jenga game in the front proved to be the highlight of the visit, well, next to drinking the beer. :)

DSCF6458.jpg

Our Hostess even labeled the flight for me. Not sure if she did this for anyone else or just thought she would help out the poor Canadian....

DSCF6462.jpg

After sampling some brews, a bunch of the crew discovered the large Jenga blocks on the barrel which, by the way, were made next door. Let the games begin..... Andy getting advice from his beer on which block to pull.

DSCF6473.jpg

Getting a bit tricky here. Jeff is doing his best not to be the one to have to pick all the blocks up off the floor

DSCF6497.jpg

NO, not THAT Jon!!!!

DSCF6505.jpg

After 7 rounds of 4-5 people pulling blocks, something had to give. KJ getting some direction and encouragement from Deb

DSCF6511.jpg

The "Money Shot"

DSCF6514.jpg

Gotta say, we had a lot of laughs. Just a bunch of big kids in kindergarten playing with wooden blocks. :)

DSCF6515.jpg

Now, for the next challenge, hold my beer and watch me play Beer Jenga :)

DSCF6517.jpg

Needless to say, the rest of day was a bit of a blur. Saturday morning radar indicated there was some clearing to the west so I joined Bob (Intech) and Tyler on a great ride to the New River Gorge National River

IMG_5465.jpg

Some of our rides at the spot

IMG_5474.jpg

Spectacular views of the Bridge and the river gorge impossible to capture on camera

IMG_5469.jpg

IMG_5470.jpg

A 180 degree panoramic shot from the Iphone

IMG_5472.jpg

On our way again, Bob took us down the River Gorge on, what I thought, was a one way trail but it wasn't. We snaked our way down and back up again on the other side. No pics unfortunately cause I was hanging on tight. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped for a few pics.

IMG_5480.jpg

Pretty place to be, don't ya think?

IMG_5479.jpg

I've said it before and I'll say it again - what a great group of people! My first ride was in Huntsville and I've been hooked ever since. Each ride just gets better and better meeting new people and getting to see old friends. This was another great one. Thanks again to Wayne for taking ownership and pulling this one together and everyone who helped make this happen. Thanks to all for putting up with some Canadian bad comedy and taking me under your wings for the rides. Much appreciated. Gotta go now. I'm so hungry, I could even eat at Applebees! :)

Awesome Mike!, thanks so much for the GREAT addition!
smile.png

FJReady- You are correct on the time inversion. Heck, to us drunks it sounded like a great plan, well, at least at that time!

We had nearly 110 attendee's, we didn't make the Sat. 6:30pm picture deadline. I guess our ride with Intech & Co carried a bit too long for this, especially when trying to squeeze in showers prior.... looks like a few folks missed the pic by the looks of it!?

Again. At every EOM and NERDS where we took a group picture we rarely got better than 60% of the total number of people for the picture. If we combine the group picture with something important, like handing out individual alcohol beverages and EOM certified cigars we may have better success. Perhaps this would be the time to hand out meal tickets, no picture, no ticket.

I likey the idea of... "get yur meal ticket in this line, then, gather over there for our group pic, as the dinning room is not quite ready for us yet!"

It was great seeing you again, Alan! ...don't forget about our simplified 2016-NERDS conversation! :)

KJ, just saw your ride report, well done sir! It was a pleasure for Marie and I to meet you and your wonderful wife Deb. Our table rocked the night, even though we were 2nd in prizes to Vic's table.

Marie has the same sentiments as Deb, as she really wants to do this again. She loved it! We are already planning for next year's EOM, wherever it is! :)

Rob
