Just got my December/January 2016 copy of Motorcyclist and there on Page 73 is someone asking about "Looking For Mr. Goodwrench" for an '04 with 90,000 miles that's never had a valve adjustment check, and sounds like he's never sych'ed the throttle bodies either.

My '04 doesn't have that kind of miles on it--my fault!

I looked up the letter you're talking about in Motorcylist. The FJR in question hasn't had its valve clearance checked in 90k miles.

My questions are: why is it your fault? Are you the person who wrote this letter?

For most of us it's hard to imagine, but there are people who are simply clueless about vehicle maintenance. I once swapped stories with a woman about our then-10-year-old, 1971 Volvos, which both of us had bought new. I asked her how often she changed the oil. She looked at me strangely and replied, "Change it? Why should I change it? I check it, and when it's low, I add some."

It's his fault for not putting 90,000 miles on HIS bike.
I get it now. I can be really dense sometimes.
