Found a hole without a bolt in it

This is on the left side of the motor, just to the left of the shift shaft. Anybody know what (if anything) goes there?

It's for the clutch magneto shift actuator. It must have fallen off somewhere on the road.

It is a critical component. Don't ride without it!

Geez, always forgetting our friends to the north. Clutch magneto shift actuator is USA models only as they don't work so well as you travel closer to the Earth's magnetic poles. On the Canadia/Sweden/Norway models the threaded hole is used for mounting the blinker fluid reservoir- keep it from freezing.

 
Dick Tracy doesn't go in there..he won't fit in there..
