Lets RALLY!

Debbie and I brought our camper to this one, no bike! and being this MOA Rally was basically in our backyard, we figured we had rode these roads so much that we needed to do a different twist for this one. yep! So, we arrived Weds nite about 7pm, plenty enough time to setup camp before darkness... then it was happy hours...n hours, n days, n nights.. well you catch the drift. hehe

Thursday we decided to wander about the sprawling grounds at the Erie County Fairgrounds (Huge place!). We finally come across the general camping and where our ying-yang groupies were to be. Yes... they're doing what they do best, BS and drink...

Checking out our groups accommodations... one looks a little more out of bounds than most.... and yes, it's a trailer slash sleeping quarters for the K16 rider.

Telling us that he dumped her out prior to making the trip (mainly to save fuel), he invites Debbie in for a pre-fitting,,,, yikes!

Being the "local" at this Rally, I pre-arranged 2 pub crawls (1 Fri, 1 Sat) for folks that wanted to experience a micro-pub/brewery flavor of Buffalo. I had 2 3-seat vans and a truck lined up w drivers w DD's, so basically?... we could DRINK away!!!

Started out with a Chipawah Street pub crawl, 2 stops here, peeps were getting hungry!

The famous Perl Street Grille was our lunch stop (we're missing a few in this pic?)

20160715_151633_zps8yejnbcc.jpg

Next stop, was at 'the harbor' and "716" (connected to the Buffalo Sabres Hockey Stadium).

The ice bar was a big hit, and who doesn't want their beer to stay cold when you set it down to talk with your hands?

We were at the upstairs bar, but looking down, you can see the lower one with my future TV in my living room. Debbie told me to keep dreaming... so I will! (and, it WILL happen!)

The new besties... Vicki and Debbie (with our Canadian whacko Gary photobombing them) lmao... he's one funny ass mofo!

Matt, Steve and Gary on the other side of the bar trying to figure out the beer list. (w/ Tim in the b/g being a photographer also)

Our womanz of the Pub Crawl...

Debbie, Jennifer, Carolyn, Vicki, Wendy

After 716 (which the name comes from the Area Code for Buffalo) we proceed to the elevators for another bar a few floors up, We were very loud getting off the elevators and we made our presence known to everyone (cough cough). Yikes. Here, Gary immediately makes himself at home, we haven't even got up to the bar yet!

Awesome views of the Buffalo harbor, drinks now in hand.... what a great day!

20160715_163533_zpsagrbq2gu.jpg

We ended this days Pub crawl by going down to Flor-Level 6, where there were 2 full inside hockey stadiums (rinks) and . some players practicing in gear, in-which they entertained us behind the goal by hitting slap-shots at the glass in front of us..... damn, that was pretty fun! I also did the pounding w both hands on the glass like so many other frozen turd fans do at games when fights break out. hehe

Saturdays Pub Crawl; I had originally planned for a solo to Ellicotteville Brewery (EBC), but we had 2 for 1 tickets at the West-end bar (right in Hamburg) to take advantage of prior (and also after EBC as it came to be... bunch of drunks!) lmao

20160716_155500_zpspxwjm7c1.jpg

One of our tour guides and DD's "Jim" checks everything out, and I find he's never been here!?!? I was floored, but being only 38 miles south of Hamburg, I guess it's too "local" so to speak, but afterwards he admitted he has missed out on a true gem of a place!

20160716_155508_zpsues4lpel.jpg

So many places now try to cash in calling themselves a Brewery of some sort with actually no brewing even being done on the premises. Well people, this is not the case here, all beers on tap were brewed right here, and there were also tours going on while we were there (I asked, but our group said they did not want the tour).

Our Saturday lunch at EBC, minus me the photo jerk. I had the Brisket, one of the best ever! (and I enjoyed it so much I forgot to snap some food porn pics).... dumb ass!

20160716_143914_zpsn73tvksw.jpg

Sat nite, after closing ceremonies where it seemed like everyone won an all expenses bike tour to the Swiss Alps ....except us knuckheads, I put on an after party at my camper. Hey!. the party never ends till the fat lady can't sing anymore!

Dan (Dusack) was my camper neighbor, here he gets in a midnight shit-face pic shot

Debbie and I had a simply wonderful time with everyone. Since this was like our (almost) backyard, it only goes to prove one thing.....

It's all about the people! ...and this Rally proved this once again. Thank you to all who attended and made this such a wonderful event. Announced at the closing ceremonies that we had over 6,000 bikes, and more than 1400 vendors!, damn, what an epic event for sure. The weather was simply awesome, beer was ice-cold and I'm not sure if we could of asked for anything much more. And, ya gotta give hats off to MOA for not pocket-booking us to death... ever! Keeping $2 for 16oz beers (and) at my last 3 consecutive MOA rally's just goes to show you it truly is about the people and not making money for the bottom line! AWESOME! and many thanks to the more than 400 volunteers that made this mega event come to life! Our K1600 Groups special thanks goes out to our pub crawl designated drivers; Jim, Jen & Carolyn!... you guys rocked the house and we couldn't of asked for any better guides and drivers, Mucho Thanks to you 3 Hamburger-ins :)

2017 MOA? Really looking forward to Utah! The 5 National Parks? YES!!. Debbie says she wants to go also, so I may be 2-up.

Speaking of Debbie, she couldn't stop talking about all of the great times we had with you guys, more and more 'brain refreshers' were brought up, one right after another... and, the whole trip home!. She truly loved the event and you guys (and gals!). I caught her texting Vicki (or facebooking maybe) and asked her who she was typing all this info to? She said "my new new bestie!"... guess since Vicki (and Matt) are from Iowa, it's a long distance best-teee lol.

So keep riding, be safe, and after your rides.... don't forget to drink like 'K1600-Group-Rockstars'

Cheers everyone!

KJ & Debbie

Seems like there were lots of folks there for the event... I've been watching several friends posting about their adventures to get there, etc... heard there was a big wind storm one night that knocked a bunch of stuff over?

Didn't realize how close we were to Hamburg over the weekend. Ran into some folks at Kinzua State park on Saturday who were on BMWs and had ridden down.

There were BMW's all over the freakin' place all week! There were even a couple at the Buffalo Central Terminal on Sunday, where I was giving a tour. Sadly, they weren't in my group. Laura and I tried to connect with KJ Friday night, but didn't have his cell. We were actually on the grounds to drop off something for the hospitality table and chatted for a while with one of the board members.Cool peeps! Saturday we planned to stop in and check out the vendors, but chores took over the day and it never happened. Looked like a hoot-n-a-half!

At the closing ceremonies, the MC had a moment of silence for all the fallen fellow riders in 2015. I looked over at Tim (C4) and one of Don's fellow Arizona Beemers buddies and said "Don Stanley bro, we will never forget, ever, we love you buddy!" we both had a teary eyed moment of silence.

We know that crazy Irishmen was watching down on us ding-dongs. :) it was the best rally I've ever been to and the weather was simply perfect.

I tried to text you back, I had credentials to get you in, plus Laura, Mike and Tim! And yes, Beemers were everywhere even down in Ellicotteville on Saturday. Crazy.

Too bad you missed the vendors (inside or out). I chatted with the Michelin guys at their tractor trailer. At that time they said they changed over 600 tires and that was only Friday nite. It looked like a NASCAR race with all the trailers lined up, lol.

We also had several FJR sightings. A 2016 Blue baby was sitting 3 sites away from us on Thursday, I went by that site on Friday and nobody there? (day trip maybe). We also saw several Triumphs, Suzuki's and many Honda Goldies. But, the big representation other than of course BMW, was Harley. Yep, by Saturday when the National acts took the stage (bands) you could see theme there in the pirate garb. They seemed cool enough, zero issues.

Going to the next MOA rally in Salt Lake City UT, next July. Our mutual friend Rick (Chuck Norris) says we're kidnapping the Wine Guy for this one as well lol.

Excellent RR KJ! Thanks for sharing your trip. Looking forward to seeing everyone next month for the NERDS trip. Maybe someone will come up with a lunch meet between now and then. Ideas anyone?

Good stuff KJ! Glad you stumbled on Tim Cooper (C4) up there. I just had breakfast with him a week ago. Great guy!! As you probably know, he just picked up a new K16 a couple weeks ago after a tip over in Eastern AZ at the AZBeemer rally. Fortunate for him, the bike suffered more damage than he did.

This will be the first MOA that I've missed in a few years but it was just too close to NAFO for me to trek across country. They are always a fun party, though!! I'll be catching next year's in SLC. Thanks for the RR.

6 hour ride for me to Hector for lunch. It better be some lunch.

Hehe, well this was not my pick. Dean apparently went there a few years back and loved the joint. He asked me my thoughts on this place being that I've been there several times... I wanted "Laff-A-Lott" on Loon Lake which would of been at least an hour closer to you.

Oh well-ski's, not my gig buddy

Look for my Denny's Beer Barrel Pub Burger Challenge RTE in the fall. It will be a Sat nite in Ellicotteville NY (EBC Brewery), nite over there, then a Sunday am ride down to Clearfield PA for the challenge.

Tim is a great guy for sure. We hooked up with him at last years MOA in Billings and went to the Montana Brewing Co. together and had an all out blast!,,,, since then, been buddies and looks like we all are planning on Utah.

Hopefully we can add in a fellow Miller to our outings!

Jeff ole buddy- tell ya what, we can do the swapper-roonie on RTE's

My Denny's Beer Barrel Burger Challenge in Clearfield PA is close to you, but 6 hrs from me. So you come up for one, I'll go down for one :)

My Burger Challenge RTE will be in Mid October (combined w a Fall colors ride). I just need to plan it so my Saturday stop at Ellicotteville doesn't coincide with their Oktoberfest this year... last year it did, what a zoo!
