Anyone ever install the LED headlight assembly (2016/2017) into a 2014 red one? There are some electrical geniuses here who have had many electrical farkles so wondering if this is possible or already done.

Looking at the Yamaha parts diagrams it appears the assembly would fit. The fairings have the same part number except the last two letters (paint code?). Not sure about the wiring hookups. Could not find the headlight wiring piece to compare with the 2016.

Seems putting LED's into halogen housings is not the best way to go.

This is probably going to end up in NEPRT.
Search is your friend: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/170981-led-cornering-lights and https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/170297-led-headlights/

If you want to put LED's into halogen, the results vary wildly. I have been doing some testing and the latest LED's from Cyclops work pretty good in the GenII headlights but the first gen Cyclops lights were terrible.
I think mophead is referring to installing the whole 2016/17 LED light bucket into a 2014.

The reason nobody else has done it yet is it will be a very expensive mod with a limited improvement in illumination. You would also have to figure out the difference in the wiring harness to the headlights, which may not be trivial.

I'm happy enough with the LED retrofit "bulbs", and they cost about the same as a set of halogen bulbs.

Retail is like $1200 and it can be found for around 9 hundo. I don't see people lining up to do this mod. All I can say is keep your eyes open on eBay for a parted out '16 FJR.
