Service Code 16

Is there a general listing of the various service codes, and in particular, the code 16?

Battery ran down over the winter and when I tried to start her up after a charge, I got a backfire and then this lovely code. She so far refuses to fire up.

Code 16 - Auto self-destruct sequence has been initiated!!!

Run! Run away!!!!

Ok, so actually code 16 shows one of two symptoms: 1) A stuck throttle position sensor is detected, or 2) Faulty intake air pressure sensor pipe system; a hose is detached, causing constant application of the atmospheric pressure to the sensor; or, the hose is clogged.

The service manual then goes on to list 7 probable causes of malfunction. Generally, they are open or shorts in the wiring, a defective or stuck TPS, and problems with the atmospheric pressure sensor.

TPSs have a history causing all sorts of problems, so I would look there first.

Well that just sucks......... so I suppose that just unplugging the battery won't fix it then huh.
