Just curious about r/r of the assembly. Can it be done without removing engine ? I've got some gnarly sound from the area . . . .(possible bearing or middle gear)

Hope it is not like a Vmax. If it is you have to pull the engine and split the cases (Yamaha flat rate 18 hours).

Looks like it may be pullable without removing engine, just can't tell if middle driven shaft can be pulled with motor in bike. Shop manual isn't clear on this . . .

Looks like I was right in my diagnosis. They may have it torn down tomorrow and I'll let you know the full scoop as soon as I find out.

I'm kinda dumbfounded on why. I do oil changes at 3K normally but I do ride a bit spirited most of the time. Maybe 90% of the miles are open road. :dntknw:
