Catfish, maybe?

Any IBR rider who makes any blog entry, tweet, texting, audio, etc, and make it after 10AM EDT Monday, 24 Aug, it it makes it to the internet, EVEN AFTER THE 11-DAY EVENT,they are subject to disqualification.
Dale, Sorry...don't mean to beat the dead horse, but, for clarification, are you saying that any blogs/tweets/texts/audio, etc that was made DURING the rally can't be posted, or, any blogs/tweets, etc made DURING or AFTER the rally can't be posted? As you wrote this, it implies that participants can't speak about the event post mortem on their blogs, facebook, twitter, etc.

best of luck to ALL participants
Any evidence of blogging/tweeting/facebook posting during the IBR is ground for DNF. Regardless of if the evidence becomes known during or after the IBR.
I figured that, but, thanks for the clarification. I think others took it to mean that you couldn't talk about it AFTER the event.

As a fan of the rally, I'm disappointed, but, it ain't about me.

This was succinctly explained in post #37

I've watched those videos four times and cannot see the old Suzuki(s) in the hopeless class. I saw the old BMW and the Gold Wing but no Suzuki.

Do we know yet if any of the competitors took the teaming arrangement for the first leg?

Turbo Dave seems very relaxed.... I want him to be a Finisher bad.
Ditto!! here and while I'm rooting for all riders Dave is very very special. I'm also especially cheering on Margaret Peart whom I met this summer at a Beemer Rally in WA - she's done some amazing rides already.

Gosh-be-darned I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight until I read the next IB post.

I don't see anything new up on the report for the last 24 hours.

ON another note, if you are looking for a good supply of pics and a little other info, check out the Team Strange website.

From the Team Strange Web Site I noticed pictures of this.......thing:

Anyone know if this vehicle is participating in the IBR as a competitor? If so, can I enter a Mini Cooper next year.

Why do you consider it different to the blue goldwing trike next to it?

I might be wrong but trikes and hacks are classes within the IBR, they are often used by riders with disabilities and trust me while they might look comfortable at high speed they can be a handful.

I can't see either winning an IBR and IMHO anyone who can cover 10K in 11 days on one deserves their finishing award.

Chris

I don't recall ever seeing a trike run in the IBR, so I would agree that it is probably not being used by a competitor. If it does belong to a rider with disabilities, then I say good for them for staying on the road to the best of their abilities.

That said, I don't really think of trike as "Motorcycles" anymore, and when you cross over to having a steering wheel and gas pedal, instead of handlebars and a standard twist throttle, I can't see how this can be considered a motorcycle in almost any way. And maybe that wasn't the owners intent, I don't know. To me this is more of a three wheeled convertible than anything else.

Oh, and if we are off topic, it isn't like there is a heck of a lot else to talk about, so I thought we could at least discuss things seen at the IBR thus far.

Thats a stallion trike. Uses a little Ford 4 cylinder engine, comes with AC and Heat........cost @24k without options.

My wife wants one lol

The first mechanical problem on the 2009 IBR belongs to.... hang on to your hats.... a 2003 BMW K1200LT.

But it's not a final drive... but it appears to be clutch-related in some form/fashion. The bike is limping to Atlanta to try to effect repairs.

The first Suzuki Rotary RE-5 is out of the rally.... it belongs to Barry Bertram, and it's the one that looked to be in better condition of the two RE-5's! Don't know the specifics of the failure, but he appears down and out somewhere in West Palm Beach FL area.
