Was tipped off by a friend at work that a new small company may be cropping up next year.

Motus Motorcycles (https://www.motusmotorcycles.com/) looks to be developing a bike based off of opinions of "the people". From their story, it was basically a bunch of the common complaints....the sportbike rider wants something more comfortable, the sport tourer wants better handling and lighter, the cruiser wants handling and range...

So according to the website, a design was popped up and they tried to combine them. They're looking to develop a sport tourer that has a 6 gallon tank, weighs around 500 (dry weight) pounds, with a chain drive and shorter wheelbase, but a more comfortable/upright seating position. Looks like a 1600+ cc engine with direct injection (TDI).

Also, lots of HP and lots of torque....140 hp and 120 ft/lb torque. And 750 watt alternator/stator.

Any thoughts? Sure sounds interesting.

Another thread was started on this topic, albeit with a cryptic title that doesn't make it as easy to figure out as your thread's title.

For my money, this basic ST genre is already heavily populated with nice choices, but I guess the more the merrier. Why these guys ought to be able to do a better job than the companies already in business is a mystery to me, but hope springs eternal.

Didn't know about the other thread. Just searched fjrforum for "motus" and didn't find it so I thought it may not have been touched.

Certiainly there are nice choices, but I like that there are lots of choices. Makes it easier for ME to find a bike pretty close to perfect which may be a different idea than what YOU or SOMEONE ELSE things of as perfect.

I'll check out that other thread. Thanks.

Love the concept but this is surely another "pie in the sky" dream that only Saudi royalty will be able to afford. Check with your local Motus dealer for details.

Thoughts? Sure, it looks a lot like a group of squids got old and are trying to recreate the ST bike in a form they find appealing. The small tank, (that they call extra large), the chain drive, ('cause they can't suffer any drive train loss, dontcha know), and the 'hot rod' pipes, (loud pipes save lives), all combine nicely with some innovative concepts and result in sort of a quasi Ducati S-4 with 4 cylinders. Even has a silly small screen in the drawings.

The V-4 GDI could be interesting. A little large, (displacement), for a rating of 140 Hp & 120 ft/lbs. Heck, the FJR does that with only 1300 cc and conventional fuel rail/injector methods. At least it runs on regular. The location and external aspect of the alternator could lend itself to some interesting upgrades too.

It's been around for a while now. Still in pipe dream territory, it appears. Gotta love the quote from the Vietnamese motorcycle magazine. ;)

Why don't they just start a bonfire and through cash into it. I can't really think of any business other than something internet based that I would attempt in an economy like this. Or why don't they do like buffett and gates and donate it to charity.

Company's will start something in a heartbeat, it's the investors that would maybe drag their feet on it.

Ohh look, they built a motor. It might even run, (debatable based on that video).

Read all the info, look at all the data, then send them a nice email that says:

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

Pushrods! You kill me! That's hilarious!

Great scam, have you heard of the Hoke Hey?
