I'm in the San Antonio area. There are several rides a year that start at the OST in Bandera.

Sander And you just missed one, last Sunday a bunch of us gathered at the OST for lie telling and tire kicking. Well, ok, there was just Barry and I. And I rode my Beemer. But we considered it an FJR gathering. -------------------- 2004 FJR, barely broke in, 60,000 great miles. Living in the Hill Country of Texas is pretty good.

It was great to meet up with you, Russ. Maybe we can set up another time, late June or July. I can take off work and be there on a Saturday if that works out better for you and Sander. But best to make it early morning before the heat sets in.
Funny how we were in same area of NM at about the same time. Loved that highway 64!! |

I've got an O7 and I ride with two other guys on 06's. We head out 1431 and ride the Hill Country a couple times a month. Try going to Antonio's Mexican resturant on Thursday nights "Bike Night" normally there are 3 to 4 FJR's there.

I hang out with a bunch of VTX riders, and they have moved from Antonio's to Bikini's on Thursday nights, (well, when it's not raining). I guess they were tired of slow service at Antonio's. I haven't been to Bikini's yet, but had no problem with Antonio's. I'm driving a black cherry '07, so give me a shout, if you see me out.... Jeff Daniel -------------------- 2007 Yamaha FJR 1300A

Not sure if there is a "group" that rides but I put out emails to the guys I know occasionlly to put rides together. Someone has to do it. My email is Kevin_Rohrer@dell.com

My email is Kevin_Rohrer@dell.com The San Antonio/Bandera/Castroville group has been pretty quiet lately. Sander sold his '03, don't know where Barry went off to. I've had a busy summer, haven't been to see the sisters this summer. But last Sunday, 8/5, I spotted three FJRs, a Beemer of some sort and a C'rocket of unknown make/model, headed west on PR 37 past my house. They musta found the Harley hangout for a beverage or a burger cause they were gone longer than most who go past (to find that the road goes nowhere fast, lots of traffic, deer and driveways.) -------------------- 2004 FJR, barely broke in, 60,000 great miles. haven't been to see the sisters this summer. You mean the 100 mile loop? Sorry, it's been called the 100 mile loop forever and I can't figure out where this "The Twisted Sisters" name came from when referring to the 33x roads. -------------------- '01 CBR 929RE

Well, if you visit the big bike hangout, just outside of Leakey, (moved from downtown this year), you'll see a lot of T-shirts in the gift shop that mention the sisters... -------------------- 2007 Yamaha FJR 1300A

Yea, I know. They moved in and gave the route thier own name, along with some promotion from Ride Texas magazine, and now everyone that doesn't know any better (any Johnny come lately) is following suit. For those of us that have been riding those roads for years it's..... blasphemy!

Cause it looks better on a T-shirt than "those three kinda curvey and hilly roads out there by Leakey?"" -------------------- Ride more....work less.

Well, it does have a bit more panache' than "100 mile loop"... Panache?? Sounds like a fairy tale. The Dragon, that has Panache, but unfortunately is taken. The Twisted Hill Country Trail. The Desolate Loop. The 100 mile Twisted Trail.. loop... whatever other than Sisters. Ack! The point is there already is a name for the route and we don't need no New Yorkers com'in in and chang'in it. On a slightly different note, if they keep promoting the Hill Country and motorcycle tourism the area riding is going to suffer. A few more years it will be like the Dragon, too crowded to enjoy. Leakey, a once peaceful town to visit for the weekend is now bustling and motorcycle business is booming. While good for locals that want that kind of growth, it sucks for those that enjoyed the hamlet as a peaceful get away place that was close to SA. This past weekend on our way back through from Fort Clark out in Bracketville we ran into TONS of bikes all over the roads out there (the 100 mile loop in particular) that used to be mostly desolate. Mostly Harley's that were going 10 under the speed limit. Very sad in a way. -------------------- '01 CBR 929RE
