Are Gen II and Gen III front brake calipers interchangeable?

I'm rebuilding the brakes in my 2006 FJR and had the two little linked back-brake pistons in the right front caliper get badly jammed and ultimately marred beyond reuse. Getting these replacement pistons seems to be quite a bit more expensive than sourcing a salvaged Gen III caliper (the Gen II salvaged calipers I found look a little rough) but I can't find the specs for those pistons in a Gen III caliper. I'm interested in knowing whether I can either swap out the pistons or even the entire caliper from a Gen III onto a Gen II.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dos

If you look at the parts fiche at one of many vendors for FJR parts, I think you will find that the piston assembly is the same for '06 and '13. (Look at www.Boats.net and confirm for yourself)

The entire right front caliper number is different although the units may be interchangeable.

3P6-2580U-00-00 vs.

1MC-2580U-00-00

$78 for the piston assembly (pistons and seals)

3P6-W0057-10-00

$13 for just the seal kit
