Sounds like you're good now, but in future, anytime you want a broken mirror, do what I did.
Just drop the bike over on its side. (Make sure you drop it on the side that has the mirror you want broken.) You're welcome.

Hello, Were you able to successfully take apart the mirror glass from the housing? I am wanting to do the same thing so I can paint the mirror housing. Thank you!
