Split: Off-tpic about deflectors

Not having seen an x-creen, I can't comment on that particular item. But I did install a deflector on the top of my windscreen. It worked as expected and would still be there except for one tiny detail... It flexes the windscreen like mad. Riding in clear air was merely "hmmm... don't know as I like that". Get caught in a modest side wind and the flexing rose to "uh... that doesn't look very good". Get caught in the dirty air from an 18-wheeler and it became "where the f*** is the allen key to get this thing off before the windscreen cracks!!!" Which is a pity as conceptually this thing is darn good at what it was hired to do.

My Vario doesn’t do that either on my Vstrom or mounted on the Fjr atop the Cal Sci medium ? Maybe you had a crappy thin shield ?

I wonder if a little shimming at the bottom so the windscreen doesn't stand so tall would help.
