Start: Wabasha Kwik Trip - 106 Hiawatha Drive West, Wabasha, MN 55981

Meeting 9:00AM, kickstands up at 9:30 sharp

Length: 350ish miles

Lunch: Somewhere en-route, perhaps Lansing, IA. - a nice quick sit down cafe will be nice to recharge. Details to follow on this.

End: Days Inn :)

Organizer: Matt Carlson cell 952-210-9145

I just rode many of these roads with the MN-MSTA this last weekend. Let me tell you they are some fantastic roads, never knew some of these gems existed in the Upper Midwest.

For those of you looking to get some GREAT riding in on Friday, this will satisfy. There are still lots of areas to hit up on Saturday, which is my goal as well.

If you're staying overnight on Thursday at the CFO Days Inn, Wabasha is about an hour ride to wake you up and get you going. If you're like me and coming down Friday morning for the rest of the CFO weekend, this is a great place to meet on the way down from the Twin Cities.

I would like to get a group of 5 or more together for this ride. However, if just one or two others are interested I will still do the ride. If 8+ want to ride we will probably split into two groups slightly spread apart.

Be familiar with the PACE riding style as seen here. https://www.fjrowners.ws/pace.html Emphasis will be on the curves and not the straights - although I do enjoy running 3rd gear up in between the twists! We will be respectful to drivers we pass and through the small towns we drive through. I do run the FJR to a level many question if physics allows. I'm sure there are many more skilled FJR riders but if you are looking for a sporty ride you should be pleased. Others can lead if they want to pick up the pace and are comfortable following a route sheet. I will moderate the pace so that all FJR riders who have some experience will be able to stay together.

Interest piqued... However, I'm not sure if I'll be acclimated to the altitude or climate by Friday

Plus my GPS is somewhere undoubtedly squashed on I69, half a mile from Port Huron Mi..

It's all good - I will most likely not have a GPS. For those of you 're-booting' still early Friday morning, I can recommend a good place to meet up if you don't want to meet up at Wabasha. However, you'll miss some good riding.

Matt;

I will try to make it up to Wabasha Friday morning to meet some of you face-to-face. I have too many things going on this summer (getting elderly father-in-law up here to Minnesota from Tennessee, for one) to register and attend the gathering, but I may try to hit some of the rides. Let's just hope for decent weather. Thanks for organizing this!

Scott

Add me to the list for the Wabasha Kwik Trip. If you still can use some map routes to be created, I can whip up some as a JPEG from XMAP6 to distribute.

I also have a spare non-BT street nav GPS to lend to a group leader for the trip who have a wired headset. It can speak road name and maneuvers as well as route multiple via capable itineraries.

That would be great Scott.

Looks interesting... Distinct possibility.
Yeah there better be some IL natives for this ride.

Great. I might be interested in taking you up on the offer. I'll be in touch.

Matt,

Sounds like a fun ride. I will ride up to Wabasha from La Crosse, Days Inn Friday AM.

See you at Kwik Trip in Wabasha at 09:00.

Great, look forward to meeting you Tim. It will be a nice ride up the river from La Crosse in the morning for you. Hope for good weather. Scattered Storms won't ruin a day but hopefully there's not a blob of drizzle over the state.

Sign me up. I'll try to get up, and down to Wabasha by 9.
Outstanding. I'll probably leave Richfield about 7am to get there early.

That kinda looks more fun than the Rally Rallye Don't tell Rick I said that. :secret:
No way..... what could be funner than 350 miles of peg/Muzzy midpipe/header mount scrapin' twisties only stopping a couple times to gas up and fill our stomachs?!? :D For missing this ride Marc, you had better be ready to make up for it on Saturday.

Edit: Either way I still owe you beer!

Map updated. Deleted some straights, filled in with longer stretches of twisties near Rushford, MN and SE of Arcadia.. There will not be a boring section to this entire ride!
