Most top boxes can catch wind turbulence at high speeds that is felt as a slight vertical instability. Bike handles fine, and I have had the E55 north of 130 mph, but the bike is smoother at those speeds without it. If you expect to be traveling at high speed with the trunk, it helps to fill the space between the rider and the top case. 2-up riders rarely notice the top case.
