John Brian "Johnny" Altinger was a forum member for about a year, rode an '06, and posted about a hundred times and rode an '06 FJR. Sadly, he was murdered in 2008 and will be missed.

Rest in Peace Johnny.

RIP Johnny. We hardly knew ya...

But that makes little difference, because you were one of us. Although we never met, next time I tip a glass of beer it will be in your memory.

Good by Johnny. :(

It has me reflecting on all the life I've lived since I turned 38 -- sixteen wonderful years with family and friends, watching my kids grow up, achievements in my life that I'm most proud of, experiences so broad I couldn't begin to list them all -- all denied to him by a killer. It brings home the scale of the tragedy.

Peace and prayers to his family. RIP.

Thanks Iggy for creating a place for us to pay our respects to our two wheeled brother that many of us hadn't met in this life. I'm sure we'll meet him on the other side. RIP Johnny.

Just watched that 48 Hour Mystery episode about Johnny. My heart goes out to his family. Such a senseless, terrible thing to do to another human being. I'm sure Johnny is in a better place now. R.I.P. Johnny.

I wouldn't change a fucking thing; I've lived hard, played hard, and I ain't done yet. I've paid some severe penalties along the way, but the rewards have been so much greater; even if for just have participating in the game of life with utmost abandon. I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of another human being in such a way... a son, a friend, a rider. Wishing peace to his family and friends and the hope that he is at peace on the other side.

This book is set to release and the author says he goes more into the life of Johnny Altinger than others have, to find out who he was and what he was like.

A story from todays news:

Canadian police are demanding to know why a murderer who modelled his gruesome killing on the TV show Dexter has been given unfettered access to the ultra-violent crime series in jail.

Mark Twitchell was jailed in 2011 for luring Johnny Altinger to a "kill room" where he murdered and dismembered him in a scene investigators said was loosely based on Dexter.

A second would-be victim managed to escape and police later found a hit list of more intended victims on the 33-year-old filmmaker's computer.

Dubbed the "Dexter Killer" during his high-profile trial, Twitchell is now watching reruns of Dexter on a flat screen TV in his maximum security cell, the National Post reports.

Twitchell has reportedly watched every episode of the show since he was put behind bars and has continued to praise its "innovative writing" in letters cited by the newspaper.

"He's reliving his fantasy whenever he's watching that show," the co-head of Edmonton's homicide unit, Bill Clark, said. "It’s ridiculous to think that he would be allowed to do that. Maybe he's refining his skills?"

Crime victims groups have also vented their anger but a law expert told the newspaper Twitchell has the legal right to watch the show.

Others have argued it may even help his rehabilitation as long as it does not increase his desire to reoffend, the newspaper reports.

Dexter is a TV and book series about a police blood-spatter expert who kills people in his spare time.

The original source is more comprehensive, including:

In 2011, a jury found he murdered Johnny Altinger, a former White Rock, B.C., resident, in a “kill room” modelled on the Dexter series. Another man, Gilles Tetreault, was also lured in the same way as Altinger, but managed to flee. A hit list of more intended victims was found on Twitchell’s computer at the time of his arrest.
