Has anyone had the trunk/base plate mod? A pic would be great,or a description of where it goes on. I had a yamaha dealer told me the fix is only for cracked items.

No, it is a Recall and they install a metal plate to re-inforce the mount.
They did mine and it had NO Cracks.
