Beautiful day so gave my bike it's annual wash and wax. It really looks great.

However, when i decided to go for a ride, it wouldn't start. Removed the dreaded battery cover and checked the terminals to make sure they were tight and I didn't get them overly wet. Several other checks and then it dawned on me. Damned engine cutoff switch was turned off, apparently during drying with chamois. :rolleyes :dribble:

Don't feel bad,I had a bike trailered home for the same reason.

Ya,
how about when you come up from the basement go to the garage and stand there wondering why or what you came up there for? So you just go to the bathroom, go back down so you can think about what you needed in the garage?

Yuppers, did it last week. Wheel bike out of garage, wouldn't turn over, roll bike back in garage, take car to work, come home, pull various body panels, check battery voltage, look for blown fuses, see stupid red switch, flip it, start bike, put all back together again. Tell the wife I managed to fix it, just had to clean the Knudsen valve. I try my best to maintain my dignity. Sure hope they never invent a idiot light that indicates an idiot is sitting on the bike, it'll never go out. <_<

Believe me, it gets worse! I sometimes stand in my shop wondering what I went to the bathroom for :D

I really don't think tripping the kill switch (accidently) is necessarly linked to old age. :glare: I was only 36yo, was tooling down an interstate having a great old time, when all of a sudden the bike stalled. You guest it, I hit the KS accidently. Pulled the bike appart and looked for an hr, then finally finding the KS was tripped. If nothing else, I did learn my lesson (what to check first) after that event.
There is no better therapy, than a ride.

You never use the cut off switch so you don't think about, and you don't have some clown that thinks it's funny to walk by the bike parking and flip all the switches to the off position.

You can bet if we catch him he won't have a chance to find out if getting old is a bitch or not.

I never thought about doing that. Thanks for the idea. That's gonna be funny. Until someone catches me and kicks my ass.

My version of that is to pull up next to my buddy at a stop sign, lean over to say something to him, hit his engine cut off and blast off in a drag race that I never lose! Normally do it while riding dirt bikes, but on the street adds the extra bonus of pissed off drivers behind him. :P

Yeah...me too.

I always remember though...that on a mcy trip...that I'm supposed to be twisting that right hand grip thingy until I grin. The other stuff I sometimes forget.
