Well I got my FZ-1 mirrors on. But, Yamaha bikes are built by men, probably little tiny boys, with hands the size of new born babes. (It's eight vent this way or cuss everybody out) I followed the links at the beginning of this post and went to the web site for taking the dash panels off and it worked except!!!!!!!!! I had to go to a third site to find out why I was having such a problem with the quick fasteners but here is the site that gave the the quick fix

and as it explained in the very last post the inside retaining ring wasn't aligned correctly and if you reach in and around without snapping your writs it releases and your cooking with gas.
