Definitely the worse part of our sport. I have been the sweep rider many times and also felt pressure to keep up with those ahead of me. It cant be said enough, Ride your own ride! Dont be too proud to back off and survive to ride another day. I often do.

Heart felt sympathies to the Friends and Family. He will be remembered in my prayers!

I feel just horrible. The day FARKLES picked up his bike he PM'd me to go for a ride, and our schedules just never meshed; but he kept in touch even a week ago -- I felt I knew him a bit. This one is just tough to take because he was so friendly and happy to be living and riding. Just plain hard.

I am not sure where we are headed as one of the fallen FJR riders had passed us all. I have been witness to a couple of these and we are getting a little older as time passes. Friends gone forever without an understanding why. We ride and enjoy life as we know it. I would like everyone to know if I pass I have had had a very good life and I would like know one to think otherwise.

I'm not sure what happened but if there is we can do for the family lets do it!

I hope we all can ride to the funeral as it would mean to him and us.

Kerry

One of the hardest things to do in life is to say goodbye. My heart and prayers are with you and your loved ones. May his memory and legacy live on with distinction.

Very tough business, this. :(

And I am sure this was not an easy post for you to make, Bob. Thank you for the effort.

Lighting a candle for Richard tonight.

We're really sorry for your loss, Rebekah. Please pass along condolences to the rest of the family. It's good he was doing what he enjoyed but it would be better if he were still around to enjoy it some more. Ride in peace.

This is very upsetting. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I am torn between the guilt of having fellow FJR riders living near me that I have never met, and being tempted to keep it that way.

I know the riders with him that day will always have this with them; but I hope the good memories provide a measure of comfort.

I just read Richard's invitation to Sunday's ride. So heartbreaking to know it was to be his last.

My thoughts are with you, Farkles, and your loved ones.

Stef

Tough year we've had on the Forum. Peace to Richard and his family and those who loved him.

Beyond the shock and sadness, I try to take something from these tragic notices. The crash description left me wondering if something didn't start to go awry with Richard, medically, before the crash. A friend of mine stroked out while riding on the street and mostly lived through the subsequent carnage. Since then, I've tried to remember to take an aspirin every other day. It's been 4 years, and I've only missed a few. If you aren't on an aspirin regimen, you might ask your doctor if you should be.

Too, I try to think about all the people (you two know who you are) who would be really sad, or really pissed off, if I didn't come back from a ride. I make it a goal not to manifest either of those emotions in them as a result of my actions. Lastly, as often as it occurs to me, I make it plain to that same group what they mean to me, just in case I don't get a chance to tell them one last time.

My heart is heavy, broken and saddened at this tragic news!!!!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family in this time of loss.

Richard may your soul be in rest.

RIP Richard. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends.
