I can definitively say that the Routes will be posted tomorrow. :yahoo: Everything is ready 'cept for a few last minute tweaks.

Each route will have a .gdb and a .gpx file available, as well as a link to the route in Google Maps for our "GPS-less" friends who'd like to print the map and directions on paper.

In addition to the individual route files, we'll also have a "master" route file that includes all of the routes. (also in both .gdb and .gpx formats)

As a teaser, here's the list of Routes we have laid out:

  1. Six Gaps and a Notch
  2. Four Gaps and a Notch
  3. Villages and Sweepers
  4. Mt. Washington
  5. Vermont's North-east Kingdom
  6. Islands and Northern Vermont
  7. Grand Isles and Northern Dack's
  8. Art's 'Dacks Twisty Butt
  9. A'dacks Twisty
  10. Vermont Tourist
  11. Sixteen Bridges

Check the NERDS Website tomorrow for all the details.

Ed.
So for the GPS-less how do you get the maps to print??

Hit the print icon, hit correct printer , hit print NOTHING

Jack NECC :p
Get BeemerDon to get SkooterG to explain it to you. BeemerDon now has a GPS on the new Beemer and I think his head is about to explode.

For anyone who might be traveling RT 7 between Manchester and South Wallingford, they are working on the road (repaving, grooved pavement and slow speeds) and you might want to find another route. PM or e-mail me ([email protected]) and I can help you find a work around route.

Thanks, I'll switch to 100 to 107 to 12.

Glad to help. Or if you want I can give you a "work around" for that area. And it'll be a bit "twisty".

Hi.

I am an acquaitence of Biker Geeks and Sooze. I live in the area, about 80 miles south of Stowe. I was wondering if you all would mind if I came to the Commodore Inn on August 19th, Friday late afternoon to catch up with biker Geek/Sooze and say hello?

I joined and posted because I don't want to cause any issues with anyone by showing up unannounced.

Sincerely,

John

No problem at all, we'd be glad to have you join us.

If you're planning to hang around for the BBQ on Friday evening (and you should), you might want to add your name to our NERDS guest list so we can keep a reasonably accurate list of who and how many people to expect. Just go to the NERDS website Registration page and enter your info.

Hiya, John!

Actually, knowing BikerGeek is probably more of a problem than showing up unannounced!
Shut yer trap, Carver. John also rides an Ultra, so youz guyz can compare an old, used and abused scoot with a lovingly cared for scoot.

Hey dcarver, hows it going?

The Bikergeek I know is a high tech road dog, properly attired(ATGATT), 2 wheeled riding machine of dual modis operandi. He gets 'er done. Nicely situated sorta in the middle of the continental USA and that helps.

Hello ED.

Thanks. I did register as you suggested.

Calling all NERDS. Calling all NERDS.

Yeah, I'm talking to YOU BUNKY! :nerdsmiley: :haha:

Prof. ionbeam came up with (what I think is) a good idea that I wanted to shoot out to you all. As you all know, the NERDS gathering is going to be a low brow affair. Everything is being done on the cheap, because... well because we like it that way!! :good:

Many of us have been to those fancier gatherings like EOM, CFR, NAFO, etc., etc. And usually at those things they have a budget to buy everyone those cool lanyards and name tags so people can identify each other by their forum names. So start scrounging around now and bring along a lanyard and name tag (or two or three...) from some past shin-dig if you have one squirreled away. Huge props and gratification to the dude (or dude-ette) with the most event name tags, eh? (It won't be me. I only have 3)

If you don't have one, don't fret. I'll bring along some appropriately cheap, self stick NERDS name tags and you can play along in the name game, too. Of course you won't have a fancy schmancy keepsake lanyard, but hey! Those cheap NERDS labels may be the bestest collectors item yet! :p

If you see this bike below at the Commodore don't shoot, its me:

Your name doesn't happen to be Barney, does it?

It looks like you still have some mufflers on that, so I'm sure you'll be welcome. ;)

Having great fun looking at Accuweather for Stowe next week. Flops from OK to good to awful and back again. I think I will set up my own weather forecasting service. All I need is a website, some sponsors and a dartboard at 20 paces. (Inaccuweather?)

I've got 2 ponies in the stable now . . . the FJR and a Yamaha Venture . . . it looks like we're bringing the Venture (it's a little easier & roomier 2-Up) . . so we'll be the same . . . but different ;)

Pick a couple of sites and make your own forecast.... you shouldn't even be looking until Tuesday! Well, Monday for me, I got a bit of a longer ride. Look at the radar and surface analysis maps here, monitor for a couple of days to get the patterns. I'm a decent forecaster now.......

Isn't that the truth. I've always said, if you want to know what the weather is for the day, ask the guy who rides his scoot to work!

It'll be cloudy and threatening rain all day and my co-workers take delight in teasing me about getting wet. Then I tell them it won't rain until 9pm or so. Sure enough, 9pm or so, the skies open up.

Radar tells all, VERY accurately. At least short term.

I have not encountered that weather site - looks interesting.

Taking the Google Maps "Fastest" Route, I have Very similar distance and driving times (Fredericton NB vs Burlington ON). If the weather is OK, I am going to leave Tuesday around noon and camp overnight in Gorham NH - on to Stowe for an early arrival Wednesday.

Ross

See you there!
