I guess it depends on the type of riding you like. For "sporty" riding I haven't found anything in CT that compares to Dutchess county. Well marked corners, smooth pavement, and some great scenery.

My Bill Mayer saddle is actually lower and a bit narrower than stock. I'm only a couple inches taller than Teecb and with my seat in the high position I'm still able to get both feet on the ground when stopped, not flat-footed, but still....

IMO the tuning blocks are the answer, unfortunately I don't think they're available for GenII.
At 5'7" I'm not as tall as the OP but after trying several shields the Rifle is far and away my favorite. With it raised to the point that I'm just looking over the top the air is still enough...
I rode the HM and the KTM Super Duke, the Ducati didn't really move me. I didn't like the riding position, alot of heat to the seat, and my ass was killing me 10 mins. into the ride.
I liked the KTM so much I'm seriously trying to pay off my FJR early so I can get a Super Duke next year.
