EOM 2014 Location & Date Poll and Opinions thread.

Wayne, I really like the Middlesboro, KY area. Decent town, several good motels, and fantastic riding; I just got back from a 1000 mile trip in eastern KY. I'll even help plan the routes. :)

Goodbye Trusty FJR, hello Super Tenere

Like the Black and Whites! San Diego County Sheriff? I'm coming out there Nov 4-7. Maybe I will spot one of these.

Goodbye Trusty FJR, hello Super Tenere

Ya, I wanted to keep both... Finances wouldn't allow it. Dang house remodeling! I am thinking that I would look at that new FZ-09 in a few years. Get a good used one maybe for $4-5K.

Goodbye Trusty FJR, hello Super Tenere

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with the power to weight ratio; the throttle is still authoritative on the S10. But on the FJR, WOT is like "I'm flying a F-16"! Takes a minute to adjust.

Goodbye Trusty FJR, hello Super Tenere

I traded my 2005 FJR and and 2011 KLR for a 2012 Super Tenere. After 1,200 miles of twisties and gravel over the last week, I'll have to say I'm very happy with my choice. Things I like right away: 1. More comfortable by far (for me, YMMV). 2. Go anywhere. Yep, I don't care whether it's...

Upsizing Rear Tire to 190/55 (w/ pics)

After 1,000 miles on 190/55 PR3s, I agree with SLK50's analysis. Definitely cleaner on first turn-in, better in-corner stability, and bonus lack of peg-dragging two-up. Very happy I moved to the 190/55. I've been thinking about this a lot, and I wonder if it isn't so much the shape or size...

Expanding EOM - 2014 and beyond

Agree with the consensus. Keep it FJR. If a person wants to ride with a wider audience, join the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association ( https://www.ridemsta.com ). I go the MSTA annual get together (S.T.A.R.) as often as a can and there is a wide mix of motorcycles there.

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

Roger, sorry you missed the broadcast dude, but it was like everywhere. I see you are in TN. You should check out https://www.nashvilleriders.com. They have a lot of news on that site. Unfortunately, I'm not able to donate to your New FJR Fund at this time due to the fact that my own FJR...

    1,000 mile Fatsider (190/55) report

I'm sure that all ya'll are just waiting with bated breath and goggled eyes to hear how things are looking/feeling after 1,000 miles on the new 190/55 Pilot Road 3. To make a long I have to say I'm pretty dayum happy with the change. About 850 miles of this 1,000 miles was two up on some...

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

I find it interesting that Mama Yama was able to raise the stakes in what I call the "affordable Sport-Tourer" segment without changing the platform. Which to me validates the fundamental "goodness" of the FJR design. Frankly, we should give Mama Yama kudos for getting it mostly right the...

    Pretty easy choice now!

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

Honda hasn't been competitive in Europe for 10 years, and certainly less and less in the Americas too. Perhaps the numbers tell the story - in 2012 Honda sales in Asia (in unit terms) are approximately 44 times what they are in North America and the vast majority of those sales are 500 CC or...

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

In 2009 a friend of mine who is a die-hard Honda ST guy, having both an 1100 and a 1300, made the mistake of "letting" me ride his ST, which meant he had to ride my "POS Yamaha" (his words). We rode from Cleveland, TN down to Suches, GA across US 64 and GA 60. When he stepped off the bike at...

    The 2014 FJR1300 - Woo-hoo!

Well frack a duck! I've been saving for a new RED bike and this here's the one! Now how am I supposed to wait two more years to save enough $$$ for it?
