Smell / Hot Engine or Rubber type smell

I have occasionally noticed a slight burnt rubber smell on my 06 AE after riding it hard and parking. Have never found the source of it and don't worry about it anymore.

Attention All FJR AE Owners and Prospective Buyers

I think the YCCS model might still be with us if Yamaha had marketed it as a performance item "quickshifter" or some such. Instead, they sold it as something that makes riding "easier", if I recall, which was a big negative for a lot of riders. I haven't been on the board in a long time, but I...

    Mod helmet internal shape

I used a curved, serrated grapefruit knife to carve out some foam that was pushing on my ears, on one of my old helmets. Worked pretty well, as I recall.

    Gerbing Heated Clothing

I took my wife's 11 year old heated pants and jacket liners into Gerbing in Tumwater a couple of days ago to get some wiring problems repaired. They were not able to repair the problems without complete dis-assembly of the two garments, so they replaced them with their brand new Micro-Wire...

Oil drain plug + washer won't seal

Sure sounds like stripped threads. I have never replaced my used crush washer. Just keep re-using it and it never leaks.

    Headlight Cracking

Glad you got your dealer to replace your lens under YES. When I tried it last year with my 2006, they refused, saying the problem is only "cosmetic". Mine look exactly like yours.

2006 AE YCC-S Shift Warning When Warming Up

Run, don't walk to get the YES warranty. I purchased a used 2006 AE in 2008 and had a lot of problems with the YCCS. YES eventually paid for a new clutch actuator, plus all the diagnostic work that my shop put in before replacing it.

Odd question - is there a way to heat your topbox?

You should be able to get your hands on all the MRE chemical heaters you could ever need, for free, being in the Army and all.

Brand new 2009AE tranny "clunking" when cold-ish

The following is a list of symptoms my 2006 AE had with the YCCS, with about 26K on the clock. First time, the shop flushed and replaced the clutch actuator hydraulic fluid and soaked the clutch plates. 6 months later same problem comes back. Second trip to the service department, YES...
