The service manager did admit that he heard the noise in the motor when his senior mechanic drove it into the shop. He said Harley would only approve replacing the damaged components. Just so disheartening to have these issues with such a beautiful bike. The wife and I planned many rides, but...
Dealers service manager is calling in the district rep to hear the noise and come up with a solution. He believes there is an oil delivery problem and maybe a damaged cam. I won't settle for less than a new motor. You FJR riders consider yourself lucky, I know I was until a 18-year-old driver...
I bought the 4-year extended warranty. These motors are identified as M8's, originally HD's racing motors but modified for street starting in 2018.
They have had four revisions to the oil pump since 2018 due to sumping issues. I would guess there is lot of bikes with my issue and they just...
Well, they replaced the heads because of grooves in the rocker shafts, would make sense that a lack of lubrication caused the damage? But they said the factory instructed them to just replace the parts.
I would bet there's many new bikes with the same issue, but they're told it's just normal...
Decided to own my first HD in 55+years of riding. Bought a 2023 Fat Boy in April and within 50-miles the motor start making a loud tapping noise when warmed up above 1500 rpm's.
After months and another 900-miles the dealers service manager finally rode the bike for more than 50-feet and heard...
I was just thinking that in over 45-years of trying to kill myself racing dirt and track why the hell is god torturing me keeping me alive?
The track was never a threat but the weekend racing in the hills with the homies had serious consequences (one loss a week normally).
So here I am a old man...
Well my 2008 was totaled in 2014 (t-boned in a parking lot) and now buying a used 2014 tomorrow! I've owned over 1/2 dozen new lighter bikes but none have something I've been happy with. Right now I own a new triumph T120 bonneville and it's way too slow my happiness. Anyway no dealers have...
I've been trough a 1/2 dozen new bikes since the FJR was totaled in 2015 (t-boned in a parking lot). so tomorrow I'm buying a used 2014 and getting back to the only bike I loved in my senior years.
So does that mean the passenger seat is on the main frame and safe for a passenger? The manual states not to use both saddle bags and rear truck at the same time, seems that would indicate a weak frame also.
Just curious and would like to take the wife on a ride prior to finding another fjr.
I bought a new 2020 Tracer GT last year but concerned about letting my wife ride double.
The owner manual warns against using the saddle cases and a trunk at the same time
and creating an overloaded condition? Won't a passenger exceed the load capacity?
Will the rear frame break off riding...
I've been trying to find a new 2021 to buy, none available locally.
I did buy a new Tracer900GT last year but miss the FJR that was totaled.
Hopefully they get shipped here soon.
EDIT: Sold the Tracer 900GT last week, can't get the FJR out of my mind. Six new bikes in 6-years and none ...
I bought a new 2020 Tracer GT 900 back in February and it doesn't even have 1K miles on it yet.
Boring riding alone, just use it for quick trips around town. Hope this Covid crap is over after the election.
All the computer crap on this new bike is ridiculous. I just need the speed, rpm and maybe oil pressure.
Had a warning light on and it concerned me all day till I got home. Found out I turned on the cruise control accidentally!
Anyway the 900 handles great and is lighter than the fjr, all...
