even if the original paint has a few scratches and minor blemishes, it IS original...which makes it worth a WHOLE lot more money than a repaint. just do the mechanicals mentioned above, any other maintenance items it needs, run it occasionally to get it warmed up and keep it safe from harms way...

if youre going that far, why not just have the gas motor run a generator /alternator to charge the battery?

Just picked up an 03 with 68 (soon to be 69)k. The bike runs exceptionally well and I don't THINK its a ticker. Anyway, I noticed coming home today it was idling at almost 1400 rpm. seems a tad high to me. (just returned from a 400 mile jaunt and WELL warmed up). Is that a symptom of the same...

Just from what I've read on old road tests of 2003-2004 fjr's, the whine is kinda normal. I'm not an engineer or mechanic like some folks on this forum so this may sound a bit stupid...but: If the ticking is there, doesn't replacing the cct take care of it? I remember having a similar "ticking"...

Do you still have the top trunk for the '03? Am considering a trunk but unsure at this point. Are you including shipping for the $400?

well, after some discussion with the owner, I took the plunge! now I'm the proud owner of a 2003 fjr 1300 (to match the "other Yamaha 1300" 86 royale in my garage). seems like a relatively good buy with what's been done to it recently. we shall see...

what appears to be a pretty decent old fjr (03) on ebay for 2850 USD. it's in northern nevada. sorry, but i'm a dummy and don't know how to make a link here for it .
