What does your FJR look like loaded for a trip?

Most unique loadout? Yes please! As a hobby I do medieval combat. That's my bike loaded up with all the stuff I needed for a week of camping out, fighting and drinking. Tent, camp chair, duffel on the back seat with various things (lantern, boots, chainmail, etc), top case with laptop and...

    Interesting sales encounter

heh I had a completely different experience a couple weeks ago at a local BMW dealer. A buddy wanted to check out the new ZERO electric motorcycles, and I went as I've had some interest for a while in a R1200GS. So we go for a couple test rides after looking around at the sales floor; him on...

    Beers Worthy of a Destination

Another great one to try if you're ever in the Chicago area would be Goose Island. Had the opportunity to swing by one of their locations when on a business trip over the winter. Always liked their beers at the various tasting events I attend (like ACBF in Boston), and they were even better in...

Soon to be owner seeking help

Pssh. So many warnings about the move from 250 to 1300. I learned on my buddy's 1050 (Triumph Sprint) and my FJR is my first bike. Best thing I ever did for learning how to ride it was fly to Phoenix to buy it and ride it 3000 miles home. Just be careful and you'll be fine.

MC European touring guide - advice becomes handy

Oh, I'm aware of those differences. It's just that for the most part, one can be figured out from the other. That being said, I tried to look for rust in my gas tank using a torch and my bike exploded.

MC European touring guide - advice becomes handy

Contrary to popular belief, a large portion of the United States is actually literate. English is English is English as far as writing is concerned. Aside from the fact that there is no "u" in "honor" or "armor", it all pretty much amounts to the same in the end.

    Considering a used 2005 FJR

Your best bet is to find a forumer here who is selling their bike for a steal, get a loan from a local bank, and do a fly-and-ride. Seriously. If you're going to take out a loan at the dealer to get a bike, you can take out a loan from the bank to get a bike. And if you buy from a forumer...

    Boneheaded Bike Drops

First time I took it down off the center stand...in front of FJRTom, the guy I was buying it from. I didn't really have any idea on the weight of the bike at this point, and while bringing it down off the center stand, I discovered it was a LOT heavier than I expected and it fell away from me...

Interest in Tech Day in Western NY?

Is this where I finally figure out just how many beers I can fit in my top case?

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Monday? Nearly 50F. Tuesday? Nearly 50F. Yesterday? Fucking blizzard dumps 2 feet of snow in about 12 hours. Today? 9F.

Interest in Tech Day in Western NY?

I'm down with June 7th for a tech day. Not a long ride at all from Rochester.

Would you buy a 07 with 63K miles

Considering I bought an '08 with 83k on it from a forum member last year, I'd say that as long as you check it out properly and it seems to have been taken care of, high mileage isn't an issue at all. I've added 5k to it through half the riding season, and the whole time it's run perfectly...
