Man this thread makes me feel good about the Staintune mufflers I purchased back in 2006 for my 05 FJR. I thought they were high priced back then at $795. That same set of pipes have served me well on that 05 then a 08 and now on a 2014 FJR. Way over 100,000 miles and they still sound and look...
I have always liked the evolutionary approach to changes on this bike (very BMW like). It means that the Corbin seat and Staintune pipes I bought for my 2005 also fit my 2008 & 2014ES FJR. I like the color matched side panels and new lighting as well as the color. Really can't see that much...
It surprised me as much as any of you when I saw this. When I first got on the interstate and noticed the instant not cumulative MPG readout was reading 41 to 42 MPG at a steady 65 MPH (the speed limit) I put the bike in cruise. By the way I always use the sport mode. Other than one cloverleaf...
Not me, I like the 5 speed. This bike does not need a 6 speed with the prodigious table top flat TQ that the motor produces. Hell I can roll away from a stop in 3rd gear with no hesitation or shudder. I will stick with the 14 ES until I either wear it out or Yamaha introduces big enough changes...
Interesting thing happened when I installed my Staintune pipes on my 2014 ES. I have used the same set of Staintune pipes on all three of my FJR's (2005, 2008 & now a 2014 ES). The 2014 ES has the best fueling stock of the 3. I used a PC and dyno tuning on the earlier FJR's to get the best...
The summer of 2014 on a ride to Washington DC from Louisville KY I experienced a problem with the cruise control. when trying to add speed while in cruise by pushing the + resume the bike would not respond to the input every time. At other times it would add speed and then drop back to the...
Anyone put a gen 2 or 3 on a dyno to see if there is any performance advantage with slip on's. I dyno tuned my 05 FJR with the Staintune's & power commander and the difference was only 4 HP. I didn't do anything with tuning on my 08 when I installed the same set of Staintune's and it ran fine...
OK Dave I want a set of gen 3 brackets for my 2014. How do I enter the order? Please reserve a set until I can get this done preferably using pay pal. I will check back on this site later tonight.
Anyone use the LD35 lights on Dave's brackets? They are listed at 3.25" diameter vs. the LR4 lights which are listed at 2.125" diameter. The LD35's larger diameter would have .56" less clearance when mounted on Dave's bracket. I have a 2014 FJR 1300ES that I am going to put lights on and need to...
No problems at 6 foot 3 and 230 with 34" inseam. I have used the same sargent seat on both my 08 & 14 FJR's. MY first FJR an 05 I used the stock seat. No real problems with the stock seat but I like the Sargent more for long days. A Laminar Lip also helps with turbulence over the stock...
They gave me $8,400 for the bike 18 months ago. I don't want to buy it back, I was just wondering if it was a fair price for a 08 FJR that is cosmetically like new. .
