Yeah, whatever...
Next time you guys are up this way let me know, and we can go out shooting. I'll put a real camera in your hands, with some real black and white film, so you can channel your inner Ansel Adams. :)
Was good meeting all you FJR folk, glad you could get out and enjoy some of...
I plan to be there, I didn't go to the top yesterday and could use some clean thin air. ;)
I checked with the entrance gate yesterday. Entrance cost is $3.00 or National Park Senior, and all park passes will work. The guy at the gate said that if a pass is used, it will get in the pass owner...
Got a couple of mistakes in my post above (#127). Both in the directions for the Mt. Evans ride. I mention when leaving the Mt. Evans entrance gate to head back to Idaho Springs taking 103 to the east and down to 151. I rode up that way today and 151 is dirt, so continue on down 103 to the town...
The gel is out, and I was thinking along the same lines as what you did. I was thinking maybe a bit of Ensolite, or other sleeping pad from the outdoor store. I used to have a old chopped up Ensolite pad but cant find it now. I haven't back packed in a loooong time so I could probably just hack...
I put together some information about the rides and area.
Routes and food
Some help figuring the routes, and some information on places to feed both yourself and your bike along the way. If you have a GPS you should be able to use these towns as waypoints. If you work the old fashioned way...
Geez man, are you coming here to ride or to eat? ;)
This brings up a couple of things...
First, whats the crowd going to do? Some I know want to go on these two longer rides, but what about everyone else? I can suggest places to stop on shorter rides too I just need an idea of what everyone...
A good point and idea Ed. Trail Ridge Rd. that goes up and through the park climbs to just over 12,000ft. That ride will help acclimate a bit plus it might let someone know that they shouldn't attempt the Mt. Evans ride. Altitude effects people differently and some are more susceptible to...
Of those three I'd probably pick the Walden ride, and Mt. Evans. All three are very nice but the Frasier loop duplicates a lot of both the other rides and the short bit that doesn't isn't really all that good anyhow (interstate and a mostly uninteresting bit of two lane). Riding Mt. Evans and...
I was beginning to wonder myself.... :)
I did some riding on the gel pad I pulled out of an old custom Laverda seat I have. I mounted the pad under my sheepskin. It felt a lot firmer than I remembered. Seating position wasn't good either (I need to lower my seat to account for the pad...
Its sounding like air is going to win (I really didn't think a Corbin could get any worse).
I remembered an old seat I have around that I had made for another bike. This seat had a gel pad in it, I've now performed surgery and removed that gel pad but the seat died on the operating table...
Oh...
