Check the part numbers on the 2014 - those came with silver covers in the U.S. But apparently 2014's in other regions had color matched red panels... so many 2014 owners purchased them (including myself) and have spare silver covers sitting around.
Might find some silver ones in the...
Looking closer and after it was mentioned about the frame - it appears the fork on the A model is black also. I dig that... just wish there was more than one choice for color... but if I remember there's only ever been one color per year with the exception of the AE models in the US.
Overall I...
I personally think Gen 3.5 since the overall cosmetic design remains the same.
In the automotive world, tail lights, headlights, bumpers are often refreshed mid-cycle but it's not considered a new generation.
Example - 2nd generation Lexus RX SUV was from 2004 to 2009. First 3 years were...
Just have the trailer charge the battery as it rolls! See? Prob solved.
BTW - I've enjoyed watching the progress of this build. I hope it performs to your expectations.
Retail is like $1200 and it can be found for around 9 hundo. I don't see people lining up to do this mod. All I can say is keep your eyes open on eBay for a parted out '16 FJR.
As someone who is on the short side - I use this method religiously to avoid dragging my boot across a saddlebag.
Ogopogo - your design looks to be on par with any major manufacturer. I wish had 1/10th of this talent. Obviously a lot of time and work went into this, but if it's something that...
Wow, those look pretty good. Were any modifications needed (dremel) to get them to fit?
Also, is there any contact when at full lock?
Thanks for the pics.
I had the V-Strom 650 guards on my Bandit 1200 - they were really nice in the cold weather. That style only mounted at the lever pivot point - not at the bar end.
Please post pics and info when you get this setup and installed.
Congrats on the '16 FJR.
I'm in the Chicago area so I feel your pain. Last winter was the first winter with my new bike - although I had the entire summer to enjoy it.
I did go a little crazy with farkling last winter but I have the bike where I want it now. A popular and needed mod is a seat if you haven't done it...
I have a Givi branded soft bag that fit into my E460 very well. It doesn't look like they make it anymore however. A quick search on eBay for "givi liner" found a few that seemed relatively inexpensive. Check it out......
This vid came to mind:
If bike is brand new, you'll be covered at least. This shouldn't happen in those temps at all... my '14 would routinely stay out in the sun all day while at work. Temps range from 50s to 90s.
I was shocked to see how low it was (saw it at the dealer yesterday). I got my '14 at the same dealer in April 2015 and the advertised price was $11,499 which was pretty good for the time. But I'm still happy w/ the deal I got since I like the color sooo much better than the '15.
I see some people in IL in this thread so I figure this might be relevant.. Nielsens in Lake Villa has a new '15 FJR-A model advertised for $8999.
