Harder than soft. Not as groomed at Moki Dugway. Conditions could vary, but I am sure you can pick your way around any bad spots.

All bikes rode well and returned safe... as a matter of fact I do believe an FJR was the highest scoring bike. It even beat the RM's theoretical optimum route. Unfortunately this weekend was the 8-hour rally (next weekend is the 11-hour out of Yuma), so after subtracting a 92 minute time penalty...

We're pulling for your quick recovery, both bike and rider. We'll let you run the LC-11 Rally from the couch this year... so stay connected on the list to get your packet and have some more routing practice.

I just saw this presentation on Thursday at SDBMWMC in San Diego. I was pretty familiar with the South America stuff from trip reports I've seen, but a lot of what they showed us on South Africa was new to me.

I remain suspicious. Lisa and I went to the Center of the World over Thanksgiving, and according to my altimeter it was at almost 4000 miles away from the center. :blink:

Good idea this year Jerry... with the weather it would've been difficult to do a pre-event rally like last year's format. It's always fun to plan, and then see where the motorbike actually goes. It was great how clear the weather got for Pinks. Big, bright moon overhead!!
