I have one bought it for local riding short trips after I totaled out a Gold Wing. I wanted something light . That being said I rode it to Alaska twice , one time to Deadhorse. You will have a hard time hitting 100 and get use to hitting the rev limiter. For local riding riding it gets around...
Enjoy, I've done it 4 times on motorcycles thinking maybe one more time . Big group make things a lot harder, the time I went to Deadhorse I rode by myself. I would suggest the Whitter Tunnel if you haven't done it , but then again alot of bikes go down in tunnel .
PR4s took me to Alaska 3 times , each trip over 10,000 miles. One of the trips was to Deadhorse and back. Never had a flat. I did do another trip on the spur of the moment with other tires. When those wore out couldn't get what I wanted the next set had a large hole by 1700 miles had to wait 3...
Rode to the Arctic Circle several years ago on the FJR friend had a Goldwing it was dry no problems. Rode a NC700X to Deadhorse this year. Waited 3 days at University of Alaska for better conditions, it only got worse rained everyday. Lot of riders came back gave up, a lot of them didn't even...
I sat in while John Ryan talked about his record run. This man loves his FJRs, he is one big guy and not in a fat way. I saw him several times and he always had his Roadcrafter on. Rumor was he collected a very sizable speed award pulling into town. It was nice seeing all the FJRs. I have moved...
BugR is right on. I was there same time last year. The year before in late July rain rain rain. The year before that early June very little rain, just my experience . I will pm you with some route ideas, I have posted them before .
Great video really captures the feelings. I felt just like Mundo standing at the Artic Circle sign. If camping the Lake Louise campground has an electric fence around it . I had no food with me or in my tent but they figure because I had eatin at a diner earlier the bear could smell my clothes...
Been to Alaska last 3 years twice on the FJR. Plan on rain 1/3 of the time, at least. Rooms are $$$ get a buddy to split the cost. I do camp not so often since a bear woke me up one night had to get 28 staples to put the old scalp back together. I have every motel card never really help much...
FJR to Alaska, done it twice from DeKalb. 16 days is cutting it short. With good weather and a plan you can do it. Last year I planned on 21 days for 10,000 miles I took 25 days enjoyed every minute never pushed it. First time I took a month. I did it in an rv also took 2 months for that...
Done it twice on my 04 FJR no problem. In fact last week I was in your area Bradenton on the same Pilot Roads that had been to the Artic Circle. 14,000 miles so far on them and I can still see some wear bar.
Artic Circle is easy if you have dry roads, University of Alaska dorms in Fairbanks...
The white Tahoe wrote us up Adams was his name Steen must have been the guy with the Crown Vic. They stayed at the Caribou Lodge saw the cars the next morning. My buddy is from Wisconsin so while he was writing us up Steen called to say he just got 2 more #16 and 17 from WI. saw them at the...
I'm glad you made it, we must have passed some where. I was at the Artic Circle June 30. Glad we didn't go farther. I was on an 04 FJR my buddy was on a Wing. We got tickets coming back from Valdez 73mph but he knock it down to 64 so we wouldn't have to go to court. My buddy was leading he had...
