Am I looking at the right bike?

What do you like/dislike about your current ride? The FJR is a GREAT all arounder. But it's hard to know if it's the bike for you. I only owned a FJR for a few months and 4000 miles. It left the stable earlier this week. If I could have only ONE bike I would still be riding it. Good luck in...

    Center Stand ?????

Another jack under the headers here. As a side note: My pitbull front stand won't work on my FJR. It's the first bike I've seen that they won't work on. :angry03:

    FJR Riders and crashing

Rider errors: Lack of skill/training: Bad Judgement: Inattentiveness: Riding over ones head: The harder you push on the door to the last one the quicker the first three will line up to bite you in the A$$. No fixed road hazard that puts you on your butt is anyones fault but your own...

Disconnect The ABS Sensor Under Tha Tank

I've had the front wheel off mine a couple of times and see no reason to worry about the sensor at all. It's a sealed unit. I suspect that the advice to disconect the ABS might have to do with not confusing the ABS computer if the ignition were to be turned on while the sensor was not attached...

need help - how do I get to battery

Having left the ignition on yesterday I was just about to grab one of these after a fruitless search for the battery. I was just about to declare the dang thing didn't have a battery! Glad I found this thread. Now I just have to re-install the seat, side panels, and gas tank.

    pirelli stradas

Late to the party but here's another  for the Stradas. Just slapped on a set and ran them for 800 miles of WV twisties at a spririted pace over the weekend. Rode them in rain, dry, clean roads, and dirty roads. I like'em! I'm running non-"E" spec. Currently have the pressures...

    OK you twisty hotdogs

Max lean before things start scraping depends a lot on suspension set-up and total loaded weight. I check in at 170 lbs and with no bags on the bike the peg feelers started scraping quicker than I expected them to on my first truely spirited run thru the twisties on it. Things I learned: You...

    front fork corrosion problems

Covering Stainless steel with any type of coating is bad news. Stainless steel needs to be kept clean and that's it. Any type of protective coating in the form of wax or oil can lead to excatly the problem you're experiancing. Seriously. Check out some saltwater boating forums for more info.

    06 Metzler Tires

It would be nice if the z6/strafa had center wear indicators. However, I would humbly suggest that if one is wearing a tire to the cords before hitting the wear indicators that are off the center line that a touring tire would be a better choice of rubber rather than a Sport-touring tire.

    Suspension Settings

I 2nd the coment above about if you're not bottoming the forks then you're ok. Stiff compression damping is a poor substitute for a proper set of springs for your weight. Too much compression damping will unsettle the bike badly on mid-corner bumps and in general offers TOO much feedback on...

    Mature Riders and FJR's

I'm 45 years old owner of an '05 FJR, which seems to put me near the middle of the demographic. I got mine to help me tone down my street riding habits and use it as a pack mule. I've nick named it "Baby Dumbo".

    Superbike School...

Another vote to run their bike. As mentioned above the skills are transferable and you'll be able to push their bike much harder than the FJR will ever go. I have a track bike and I have an FJR, there is NO comparision. As long as you're paying for the experiance why short change yourself...

    Hard downshifts pt. 2

I've had a few bikes that would sometimes lurched badly when shifting to first at a stop. Dirty oil would certainly excaberate the issue on my Concours. But the biggest thing I found that helps is simply letting the bike warm up before riding it. Also, good advice above about working the clutch...

Ever been spit on when cutting lanes

If two vehicles are in one lane they are sharing it. (Two motorcylces side by side for example) If a vehicle is between two occupied lanes of traffic they are spliiting those lanes. Nothing to be ashamed of. Call a spade a spade and be done with it. Leave the PC stuff for the folks in CA...

Our FJR Is In A Battle

I'm one of a few folks that has owned both an '06 Sprint St and '05 FJR. Frankly I've always been surprised the Sprint St and FJR are lumped together. They are very different bikes. The Sprint is a heavy sport bike with touring capabilities. The FJR is a light tourer with sporting capabilities.
