Side cases AND top box overloading/instability

You see the warnings when you look at factory top box pics. Has anyone had any instabilty or bottoming out when touring two up with all the kit?? Steve

    Rear shock bolt torque.

I'm heading out on a 3000 mile run next week, thought I'd lube up the pivot points of the rear shock. First thing I notice is the nut fastening the shock bottom bolt to the cast rising rate casting is less than finger tight!!! looking at it, it appears to be a nylo-nut, but the nylon is missing...

    FJR justification

https://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36308 Gary Egan's record ride from Prudhoe Bay to Key West has been beaten today, by this fellow on an FJR. Check out the fuel tank!!! Steve

    FJR firm thoughts on usability

Just came back from 2000 miles of tight canyon curves, long sweapers, some interstate, and town riding through North West Washington back roads, first of hopefully many longer tours on this machine. I came away with firm head to head comparisons against a BMW 1200 GSA, and Triumph Sprint 1050...

    Adjustable Fairing???

I was just looking through the current Touratech catalog for my dual purpose Beemer, and noticed the new streetline stuff for full street bikes, including FJR's. Of the many things for FJR, is this tool https://www.streetline-usa.com/shop/show.la...349D4whn2789CC2 for adjusting the...

    Valve clearances?

My bike's got 38,000kms [23750miles], and will be putting in some big mileage this summer, going to check the clearances. If any are need a change, I'll throw it in the truck 'sans' bodywork, to get them to just do that. It's a new bike for me, still havn't got a shop manual. I'm hoping...

Avon Storm vs Michelin PR2 vs the rest??

I'm relatavely new to FJR's, the current Conti Road Attacks on my '05 are clearly not going to last much longer. Read all the threads on all of these tires. Only experience with others are Bridgstone 020's and 021's. It sounds like the 021's are not the tire of choice on the front heavy FJR...

    Footpeg Relocation

I see there are kits available to move the feet forward. I've got off road, dual sport, and sportbike in my past, and I'd like my feet back from stock, just so my heals are directly below my hip joint. I know the Moto Guzzi V11 Sport guys have figured out that footrests from a Buel Ulysses are a...

    Mt. St. Helens road status

I heard that Windy Ridge [NFD99]is seriously washed out, and there's no serious fast plans to open it up. What's going on around there? I'm spending a week in and around John Day in late June, riding and stuff. Wanting to ride south from the back end of St. Helens, forget the road, to make my...

    Brake pad renewal

Looking at the front pads, will be putting new ones in soon. Just wondering if, like BMW's with ABS, do FJRs' ABS system need to be recalibrated at the local Yamaha dealer after brake work like this? Steve

Canadian TPS recall on Gen 1's

Anybody north of the border done anything about their TPS? https://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/7/vrdb...esult&pg=-1 . My '05 is showing signs described in the national recall, my nearest dealer said he'd never heard of it. Any receptive dealers in Metro Vancouver? Steve

    GPS mounting

I want to put my 276C onto my '05 FJR. I was looking through another FJR site where he bolts his short RAM plate onto one of the bolts holding down the handlebar. Are there any other ways you guys have attached a RAM to an FJR? Steve
