Nope, this won't give you 4". I would go for a taller aftermarket shield. But thanks for the inquiry just the same.

Gen 2 FJR 1300 stuff for sale

I bought the Laminar Lip for stock screen for my 2010 (Gen 2 FJR). If you bike is Gen 2, you should be ok. According this this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_FJR1300 you bike is Gen 2. I do not have experience with the stock shield -- the shield I used the Lip on was stock but...

Gen 2 FJR 1300 stuff for sale

A small plug for the two items I have left: The Laminar Lip: an interesting piece of tech that helps smooth out the air over your head. If you don't like the big shields especially in hot weather, the Laminar Lip can help. You can install it to help smooth out the airflow or to give just a...

Gen 2 FJR 1300 stuff for sale

Hopefully, the video below will shed some light here. For peaceful rides below 40mph, I prefer the stock mufflers due to loudness, etc. But if I wear my earplugs (like I do with most rides > 30 minutes), I could go either way. Dennis

Gen 2 FJR 1300 stuff for sale

Hi all, Two items still for sale (I added a Cortech Tankbag): Laminar Lip - $50 Cortech Tankbag (black but faded from sun; so it's really light gray) - Pay it forward, you only pay shipping or pick up. The Cortech Tankbag is still functional and fits well on the FJR tank. I used it for...

Learning to ride after a crash

Hm... about 6 years ago, I crashed a 2007 CBR1000 and badly sprained my tailbone -- it took a year to fully heal (to where I could sit and not think about any pain). During that year, I got an FZ6 (for 8 months) and later an R6. I read the Keith Code books and learned a lot about riding -- not...

Gen 2 FJR rear tire removal

I discovered the same -- seems that you can bend that fender quite a bit. I pushed my wheel to the right when removing it from the final drive and bent the fender a little -- and the wheel had plenty of room to get out. Dennis

Gen 2 FJR rear tire removal

I did this today. It really wasn't that hard at all. Putting something under the rear tire makes it a lot easier to get it on/off. It's nice that even after the axle comes off, the rear wheel is still attached to the final drive and stays there. This makes it relatively easy (i.e., less...

Gen 2 FJR rear tire removal

Hi all, ... big thanks to you'all! From the sounds/looks of it, this doesn't seem so hard. I'll look around for something to plant under the tire to make it easier to get the axle off and on. It sure is nice to see what things look like (thanks to the mactrophy photos) when apart so I know...

Gen 2 FJR rear tire removal

I already looked at this: https://www.fjr1300.info/howto/rearwheel.html It's apparently for Gen I and certainly not for the ABS model. I have a 2010 FJR Gen 2 A few questions: 1) Why do we need the 3/4" plywood under the center stand? I'm guessing it's to give clearance for the rear wheel...

    Sunday 4/28/2013 - NERDS RTE

Thanks for the ride folks and the opportunity to see and have breakfast with you'all -- it's been a long time. Had a good time and discovered more roads to travel on for fun -- seems that Rt 4 is a nice road and seems to go on forever. Next time, I'll order the pancakes since they get such...

Ride to the Sky, Monday June 10th 2013, Mount Washington Bikes Only

LOL. I'm contemplating putting some dual sport tires on the FJR just to make offroad riding a little bit better (i.e., less nerve racking). I don't think the FJR is a good adventure tourer but with tires that can deal with offroad, I would be less apprehensive about dirt/gravel. Pirelli...
